You'd be going from a non-VVT to a VVT engine so you'd need to replace at least the entire engine harness and ECM, and the BCM since I believe the old one would not work with a new ECM. Is it an Ion?

Well its a saturn sedan 2005 and It has the 2.2 ecotec but for 2006 they put the 2.4 in the sedan and also kept the 4 speed automatic which I think is the same. I just wanted the extra ponies, and wanted to swap the engine and transmission of an 06 into my 05,or just place the Le5 unto my existing tranny.I was also looking into saabs 2.0 turbo(Lk9 aka b207L)automatic but feel it might be more complicated.

If you have the full car it might be doable but it's a lot of work. With the dates you put it must be an Ion.

I feel like it'd be a lot cheaper and easier to just install a blower setup off of a Cobalt SS or Ion Redline.

And I'm pretty sure that'd give you more power than the 2.4L swap.

Seems cheap at $750. I agree nice bump in HP, But would it it still be better to have the VVT 2.4,I actually thought the 2.2 also had variable timing?

VVT didn't happen on the 2.2 until it was changed to the LAP in ~2009

If you're looking for a boost in HP, VVT isn't that big of a deal. It's much easier to tune without it, for example. If you want to maximize HP and efficiency in the full rpm range, then VVT helps you do that.

Important to note that the $750 price is sourcing your own supercharger, intake manifold, and throttle body. Which isn't hard to do. But to add those brand new to that kit, it bumps the price to $1895.

Throttle Body is + $220.
Supercharger is + $375.
Intake manifold is $550.

And it would absolutely be better to go with the blower than just swapping to the 2.4L.

LE5 is 171 bhp; I know stock block 2.2's with the s/c kit that have dyno'd 220 whp.

I'm doing an lsj swap on my ion sedan actually.
run some part numbers on your car and the 06 2.4.

For example I have an 03 ion and my donor is an 04 redline. Body harness is similar enough that I can use my stock one (I dont have power windows, sunroof, aas, etc)
05 and 06 have the same body harness if i remember correctly.
And 07 is an oddball.

The very least you would need the engine harness, pcm, bcm, gauge cluster.
I'm having the issue that I either need to pull the dash harness put of the redline to use, or re pin mine using the redline connector (this is for the c1 connector. Functions are almost identical).

A lot of tinkering to go with it. But I think the 2.4 swap would be doable. I wanted to 2.4 turbo swap. But almost all the redline stuff I'm getting on trade. Really only thing I have to buy is suspension and the turbo stuff.

I'm down to answer questions on this. I love the idea
