Talking Noobie 05 ss/sc- Chicago

hey everybody, new to the whole cobalt ss scene and figured I'd introduce myself real quick like! Just scooped up a 2005 cobalt ss last night, here to learn some more about them. I am a mechanic for a living so I am not completely oblivious to the whole car thing and do have a few tricks up my sleeve lol! It does have some mods and I'm pretty sure it belonged to a fellow member on here.

Mod List:

- SLP catback
- 2.8 pully/shortened GM belt
- Stage 3 ZZP heat exchanger
- ZZP tune
- GMPP Stage 1 clutch
- NGK plugs
- a few other cosmetic/audio things

this is the list that the P.O gave me so dont quote me on it! He clamed its tuned for 16 psi but so far I've only gotten it to peak at roughly 14-15 psi. Pics to come in next post. Make sure to comment and let me know some sections to check out to learn more about these creatures!

Just saw the guy post on Facebook saying it's the last picture he'll ever take of it. Funny how I now see it a few hours later with the new owner.

hey newbie! whereabouts in the chicago area are you from? i'm from winfield, near wheaton, west chicago etc.

car looks clean; that flat black on the trunk is fresh. judging that the previous owner painted the front splitter like that, he was definately on here

what size pulley is the blower on? probly a 3.0 i'd say if ur pushin 14-15

make sure your i.c. pump is working

The guy claimed it was a 2.8 pulley. And yeah he told me about this forum and the group on facebook lol! And how do I make sure the I/c pump is working? I had it hooked up to the scanner today to do some data logging with a co worker and saw info on the I/c pump but no sure of there is an actual PID to test it manually on/off. Data showed pretty solid it was at like 14.5:1 at idle and 11.something:1 at WOT. Fuel trims were spot on also. I feel like its not pulling quite as hard as I thought it should and it doesn't seem like its building boost that quick but I think the gauge is faulty. Updates tomorrow after more digging. And I'm in the oak lawn area!

If he had stock cooking system you just take the cap off( in front of blower) look to see if water is moving.

Not quite sure on tires. Thinking either some nexen np601s or some bfg's. Tires on it now are far from nice, but hey I may just be picky lol! But both fronts are some Michelin winter tires and then out back are one Pirelli and one off brand hahaha!
