GM Kit vs Custom

Is there a HUGE difference in GM 2.99 and a zzp 2.9 pulley if i get a Trifecta GM stage 3 flash. Also have a UEGO wideband which i will Monitor to see if goes into lean or anything of that such

I just feel the GM stage 3 PCM has the nitrous algorithm and idk if HPT would have the same thing if i got custom tuned w/ wet shot. I'm gonna collect 42's, dual pass and a nice nitrous system trying to find the BEST tune. Trifecta or HPT tune. which is safer? I know HPT will give me more power/timing.

GM must know something. that HPT won't so let me know. I search around a lot and read on tons of forums. i'm just curious if .09 will make a large difference for the Tune

Get 60.s if you are looking for the nitrous on a stage 3.
You can still tune with hpt if you get the stage 3 gm. The difference in lilly about 2 psi

just get the trifecta tune as a base, and then down the line get it HPtuned and you'll keep all the features of the GM tune and be able to have your tune suited to your car and needs.

Not even...

I've tested a 74mm (2.91") & 73mm (2.87") against my GMR Stage 3 76mm (2.99") pulley, and saw maybe 0.5 psi difference. Not only was there hardly a change in boost, but power delivery/output was exactly the same for all three pulleys.

OP, you can run a 2.9" with the GMS3 tune, but the difference is so minuet it really wouldnt make a difference power wise. If you already have the GMS3 pulley stick with it, if not stick with your 2.9".

why are you bothering with GM Stage crap? a 2.7 seems to be the best balance i've seen on these cars... a 2.5 if you really do want to actually make power... my buddies 2.8 car runs door to door with my stock LNF tho

Your buddies 2.8 car isnt that quick then (for a pullied LSJ)....

Most GMS2 cars are a drivers race for a stock LNF.

You do not need a 2.5" pulley to make power. You can make great power with a larger pulley, the right tune, and the right octane.

FYI, the GMS3 kit is not crap. With the ability to now custom tune GMS3 it is one of the best options for the LSJ due to the great features it provides (adjustable rev limit, high octane mode, & nitrous).

thanks guys. I really like how GMstage 3 pcm allows for high octane mode if i need it. It alrdy got the 50 Shot built in and Rev limiter. Unless i get my own HPTuners programm i won't have those options plus i don't really wanna get into the tuning. I rather pay someone to do it right once than learn the hard way.

Another question how does the PCM shut off the Nitrous if it notices issues. Is the nitrous solenoid or some kind of relay tied into the PCM?

Plus why is dry shot safer on the stage 3 GM kit than a wet shot. Wet shots are pre mix arent they?

is 60's or 42's safer?

The GMR Stage 3 kit was designed around 42's. Perfectly safe for the setup, pulley, and power output.

There is a fail safe built into the GMR S3 PCM that prevents damage from occuring if knock or some other issue is detected.

you can buy a jumper that runs everything together. I believe CED sells it.
that's how your pcm can turn nitrous on and off, and if there was a problem, it would shut it off.

is it safe to find a used nitrous kit or should i go brand new and just get parts when i can afford. I know a couple guys who got it and they explained to me everything I need.

But they somehow pieced together kits for less than 600 but used. Just curious what parts would go bad?
