im currently looking into nitrous also. i got the 07 chevy 2.4l. i am considering going turbo because it seems safer with low boost. But nitrous is more in my price range and it is actually exactly what i want. but how safe is it really? like a 50-75 hp shot? i really dont wana build up the engine just something for an extra boost.

the 2.2 and 2.4's are built for a 75shot, and 2.0 is built for a 50shot
says right here in the GM build book

anyhing beyond that will probably work, but isnt "safe" as per GM

edit: be sure to get a wet kit, bottle warmer, window switch, and a remote bottle opener if you put it in the trunk

i agree with the bolded print.. but i've run a 75 shot on my LSJ for a complete summer and havent had any troubles yet (*knocks on wood*)

but to the OP, i see your post was a few days ago and yes if hooked up and run correctly you should have no trouble running a 50shot.

i was just stating what GM says is "safe", GM also says a lot of stupid things about their cars but usually they're right (or close)
i've heard of a person running a 90shot on a 2.2 for a few passes and his car was fine afterwords /shrug

so i sprayed a 75 shot during a 60 roll, service traction lights and check engine lights started flyin so pulled off the road and 2 of the spark plugs fowled and now its only running on 3 cylinders. put the old spark plugs back in (think the jerk off at the auto parks store sold me hotter plugs not 1 step colder) and now its only runnin on 3 cylinders, checked to see if they were all arking and they were so the rings or something must be toast on the first piston, thats all i can think of before pulling it apart. any ideas or anyone had the same issue?
