nitrous+gm stage 3
Not to mention the kit isnt running a dangerously low pulley size like you guys are that are destroying your pistons. The heat alone caused by those extra pounds of boost are a waste, and create much too much heat for the pistons to handle. the m62 is mucho inefficient where you guys run it.
dont forget that GM knows how to tune their car a little better than you, or anyone on this site.

A few points in regard to this topic,
1) My dealership has told me, on three different accounts by three different people, that GM stage 3 is completely covered under warranty.
2) No where in any official paper work does it say that GM stage 3 is NOT covered under warranty. Just because its off-road, doesn't mean its not warranteed.
3) I personally have GM stage 2 + most of gm's bolt ons, and i have had warranty work done ranging in the thousands of dollars. If they won't warranty your stage kits, you bought your car from a crappy dealer.
However, i don't even think my dealership (as cool as they are) would warranty severe internal damage if i came in there with a nitrous kit installed. Remember the pcm only supports nitrous, GMPP does not actually make a nitrous kit.

I am curious as to where half of you who don't have the stage 3 kit with Nitrous installed are getting half of your incorrect data?
Axles will break because they are not strong enough = FALSE Your axles are good to 350ft/lbs...its the guys who are hopping all over the place and don't let off the gas or don't understand the concept of "feathering" the gas that typically have issues. Reason number two for this...YOUR CAR IS NOT A DRAG CAR!!!!! STOP DRAGGIN YOUR CAR! They are designed for autocrossing. Not your local quartermile track. If you want to do that yes...you will need good axles but the ones on your car are fine.

And what does Nitrous have to do with Auto-X.... As close to nothing as is humanly possibly. I have never seen someone spray at an Auto-X event, and don't imagine that will change anytime soon.
SO please continue to make educated posts, but bashing people for getting their speed fix in a legal and safe way is immoral and unintelligent to say the very least. Also, I snapped my axle at the beginning of second gear, so don't tell me that all axles broken are due to people not letting off during wheel hop. Have you seen a broken stock axle? The design is **** poor and not made to handle 350 ft/lbs for any extended period of time

Sorry if my previous post comes across as hostile. But I lost a good friend in H.S. when some dumb **** blew a stop sign street racing and T-boned her at 90+.
Keep the racing on the track. And **** anyone who doesn't understand why
Yeah I missed your first post man. Agreed 1000000000%

GM put it in writing how they stand on what Stage 3 will do to your vehicle's warranty. Also, the part about the PCM not having enough "room" for A/C is not true. It doesn't have AC compatibility to curb on highway use of the Stage 3 PCM.
HPTuners will not be able to tune this specific PCM.
I agree with the axles and clutch though. The original application of this clutch/transaxle was for a lot heavier car and a lot higher towing capacity.
As far as injector capacity, someone can tell you they serve you beer at your basement bar, would you believe them? (I dream though) Injector duty cycle (capacity) is a simple mathematical calculation that cannot be argued.

i believe that FNFAST has posted some very good points. What some people have to realize, is every single dealer is different, as some will warranty you with stg1+ your own bolt on's, while on the other hand, other dealers will only warrant parts installed at that dealership. I have seen this happen.
I personally have thought about spray, but am very skeptic about it. I mean make the power by other means, and most importantly, make the power safer, not saying nitrous is not safe, because it can be on a very good setup, im sure the STG3 PCM has the car run some very safe parameters when the nitrous kicks in.
I agree that a lot of the guys on here are slapping on the smallest pulley with the biggest injectors, and piston #4 saying goodbye, then on top of that tuning the car yourself? IMO not reliable, I am glad guys are out experimenting with mods, because in fact, it costs money and time to see what a car can take, and what it cant.
(end rant)

If you have the right monitroing eqiupment and you know what your doing tune on, i really dont think he made any valid points imo, considering that there is written proof that they wont cover gm stage 3.
on another note, if your dealer is going to warranty it, thats awesome, and who gives a **** what GM head quarters has to say if the indvidual dealer is going to take care of you!
Also a good point, but in most cases the dealership will say no, so he cant speak for everyone, thats missleading info.
Called our Gm Regional warranty rep today. GM Stage 3 is NOT covered under factory warranty. The parts offered in the GM Performance Stage 3 kit are warranted for parts defects for 12 months/12,000 miles through GM Performance. This covers strictly the parts offered in the stage 3 kit and nothing else.
Factory Powertrain warranty is voided with the use of stage 3. However, if your under 3year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper, all other issues are warranty. Stage 3 strictly relates to Powertrain.

^^Damnit I accidentally deleted that post when I went to edit it with some info about the rev limiter and clutch, he was correct about to an extent, but yeah mostly garbage lol Like you said all of that info is found with 2 minutes of "Search"
Thanks for quoting it before my ******* messed up, lol
I hafta quit posting after drinking,,, I rely on the Edit button too much, lol

While most of your points are valid, and I am glad to see more knowledgable and helpful posts, this is one of the most ignorant statement ever made in regards to nitrous. Nitrous is illegal to spray on the streets no matter where you live. That aside, we drag our cars so that we don't have to do it on the streets. Those of us mature enough to drive a car this fast recognize the utter stupidity of doing so on public streets.

Kind of funny how GM used NO2 on their "Time Attack" car and achieved the fastest time on the Buttonwillow Racetrack in CA. I understand it's not quite the same as auto-x, but why wouldn't someone want to use it if it was allowed? There are some straightaways I would imagine where it would be useful. From what I hear though, I don't think the SS/SC really needs much help in the auto-x department.

But I have never seen an Auto-X event (I've only been to ones around MI) with enough of a straightaway to safely spray.
Regardless,in my experience at least 90% of people who decide to get into Nitrous do it strictly to drop those 1/4 mile times or for extra points at a car show. Of course some people do it because "NOS is cool", and it's "sweet to purge on crouds of people lined up to watch uber cool street races"
So maybe I'm stupid here, but IMHO Nitrous belongs at the 1/4 mile track and pretty much nowhere else. (Except for Paul Walker wannabe who must have an uber cool purge kit) If you disagree and think it's sart to spray Nitrous on public streets, than all I can do is hope that you don't drive near myself or any of my loved ones.
Holy crap posts
Look SS33..all I implied by my DRAG RACING statement was this...your car is not set up for the drag...if you do something with it that it was not designed to do..you run the risk of breaking it. plain and simply. I never beat on the guys who do it..go for it. I just said when you use your car for something it wasn't set up to do...don't be suprised when **** breaks. Are you going to pull stumps in your cobalt? Why not, it has low enough gearing......i think you get my point.
Don't know...some people have sunroofs that stay open the first time they use them? Guess all gm sunroofs are crap? Just bad luck man, when you produce enough cars...your bound to get a bad one here or there.
lets see...oh yes...sorry I have my pm off on this site...I will turn it back on. And as far as calling you liar...I was speaking metaphorically...not literally as it seems people are so easy to except bullshit, but not anything else.
And for the Auto cross racing...there is more than cone driving, just FYI...here in wisconsin we have whats called a "racetrack". It's were it is like 2 miles long and has curves in it. Up here we call that auto crossing.
Concerning them covering the NOS, they are installing the kit, which is a big part of it. Plus as far as running the NOS...Nitrous is perfectly safe when it is tuned correctly, hence the alg in the PCM for the Nitrous. Yes for guys running around with HP tuners who can't even tune for a smaller pulley..you may not want to attempt tuning for nitrous...but when GM tunes it and they say it is tuned safely...why would they not cover it?....oh wait they are. AND for the guy stating that GM won't cover it because I had my cousins, nephew call his uncle who worked for GM as a chief Sales officer back when his mom was the secretary...I work in the legal and let me tell you...it doesn't matter what the say "verbally"...if it is not "written" it is simply them making up words. Not to get into specifics or legal jarble for you, but a mass produced product has "written" direction"...it is not left up to dealers to "verbally" tell the customers what is not written on the GM print. Sorry but your guy is F.O.S.
Now, concerning guys who have legit questions, I will answer, to those who don't believe...I could care less...thats fine...and I am sorry you have issues with your dealers...but, it is very easy for someone to "SAY" your warranty is void....watch..."your warranty is voided if you do that"...see...nothing to it. But truth is...well...I'm telling the truth but it sounds like no one is having it. For those of you near wisconsin that would like the stage 3 installed by the same company I did...send me a pm. The rest of you guys...I'm sorry your getting dicked or you simply refuse to believe. No big deal, no hard feelings.

Also my friend did NOT have wheel hop and snaped his axles, he had bwoody full motor mounts, and traction bars, and if you dont think the cobalt is a drag-car, or isnt made for it, why use nitrous?

- what nitrous kit are you running with GM S3? shot?
- have you used the 100 octane tune yet? if so, comments?
- any numbers with kit? w/nitrous? w/HOM? (dyno or track; i know you don't drag, but just asking in case)
Thanks in advance.
