NOS on a 2.4?

So im looking at getting my 2.4L N/A into Low 14's and today i had a epihpiny (SP) and figured Nitrious would be the best way to help me hit my goal...

now im coming to the css.net community (like i do everytime) when i need help on figureing out what to do..heres some standards

-I dont want to cause tons of harm to my motor as in having a high risk of lighting it on fire (because i am on a lease)

thats really my only concern with nitrious...so now..point me in the right direction..what setup would be the best (wet/dry) how much shot so forth...

Nitrous is not flamable by itself.

The bottle can burst if it gets to hot (ie malfunctioning bottle heater)

Or if you have a backfire into the intake manifold, then it'll go boom.

With proper setup its pretty safe, just don't go cheap or cut corners.

I'm not an expert, but I like the ZEX setup. Get the wet setup with a TPS and RPM switch for sure. That way there is a good margin of safety built in.

I was thinking of nitrous but figured I'd be filling it so much cause I would want that power all the time!

Run a Nitrous Express setup with an FJO racing progressive mini controller. PpAzZ1101 had the parts list and setup all planned out on his 2.4 before he decided to go the turbo route.

Check http://www.fjoracing.com for more info on what you can do with their electronics. You'll be quite impressed.

You might be able to shave a second off your 1/4. I really don't know myself. Never actually driven a nitrous car.

It allows you to pulse the nitrous into the intake at exact amounts that you desire. If you have traction problems at certain RPMs or want a first gear lockout option, the progressive controller allows for it. The software for it basically looks like a big line graph and you change the amount of nitrous you want to inject at different RPM intervals.

If you don't have any experience with nitrous, I recommend just buying a basic NOS/NX/Zex "fly by wire kit" and work with that until you understand how it works and how it affects your performance.

Kinda like the way I hate when people don't take the time to capitlize an "I", use the word "you or your" correctly or the word anytime(netime?).

Although some may actually be talking about the brand of kit they bought and sell more than any other at Summit Racing.

Edit: you know I'm just busting *****.

Theres a kit PpAzZ1101 and I drove to Summit for, it has everything you need to start spraying asap and stay safe, I'll find you the part number real quick. NX and Zex make similar kits to it so you'll have an idea of where to start.

Edit: NOS 5134. Again, I'm positive that NX and Zex sell similar kits so you can go with whoever you prefer. This should get you started though, I used the same kit on my LSJ.

Will instantly void warrenty, and you don't get to have insurance. Best bet is a SC or Turbo kit. http://www.turbo-kits.com/cobalt_turbo_kits.html nice prices on TC's.

Or get a whipple SC kit for our cars. They are alot of money, and it would be a custom kit. Or you can buy one from a member on here, the SC that is and then build the kit yourself its about 2k for that.

It may seem like a cheap alternative to hp, just keep in mind youll have other problems. You will become addicted to it, and really, you will. Speed is addictive, best bet is to not buy the No2 kit even if it is under 500.

thanks for ur input but this is for nitrious oxide..not a turbo/supercharger, ive done my fair amount of research on both kits and both a turbo and supercharger will cost WAY more money and WILL void your warrenty anyways, also a turbo/supercharger are a little harder to tune and put on...

but thanks for ur input

Oh there is a sneaky pete kit, I think its pete, but its a small 10oz bottle and it all hides in the zise of a briefcase, its a 35 shot for only 299 I believe, unless you want a full Zex kit that comes with a big tank and all that jazz.

Here is a good site for N2o kits http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store...?idCategory=46

There is also a member Coolvey who has one for sale, for like 200

Only if they can't find it, hence the sneaky pete kit.

Nitrous does not disappoint though. Anyone who would try to talk you out of it has never used it themselves. It is safe reliable power once you understand how it works, and its not rocket surgery to understand it.
