Hello fellow MN/WI drivers...

Just wanted to say I'm a new proud owner of a Cobalt and new member to this site - looks like there's some decent info here. Look forward to possibly meeting some of you...

I do photography so I could help everyone get some nice pics of their rides, with yourself included...

I'm sure I'll be checking in frequently....

And to answer your question Poolboyz - I'm thinking storing it... had a 98 Avenger prior to this and the salt caused havoc to wheels and trim (over 5.5 years) - I want to keep the SS looking nice (although snow drifting is fun!)

hey porter,

welcome to the addiction. Please tell me you didn't get a red one I'm assuming we'll have at least one more meet before it starts to get cold on the first saturday in september. Some quality pics with all our rides at the next meet would be sweet if you could make it out there.

Thanks for the welcome - no, no freaking red one here... got the Silver Metallic SS/SC... I'm moving on from being "Biker Trash" (inside joke, sorry - had a Harley, just sold it last nite) to dropping jaws and turning heads of all these guys in SE MN with their loud, annoying Campbell's soup can muffler having, ricers. Now, not that I don't like a good set of pipes, I just don't care for the really loud, high pitched ones. Like I said, had a Harley - prefer the low tones myself...

It would be fun to meet some other folks with similar rides though and also to take some pics - Sept 2nd, got a wedding to shoot but then I don't know if I'm heading to the river or what... have to check with the wifey... (did you hear that?.. the cracking of the whip??)

So who purchased the Red SS SC cobalt at grossmans in Burnsville? It would have been about August 1st. I thought the dealer said Brooklyn park? Just curious....

I haven't seen any new ss/sc cobalts running around brooklyn park, and i'm all over this town almost every day.

As far as those winter wheels, are those 16's or 17's? Hell, I like the design better than the stock wheels. I think the stock wheels suck if you plan on painting calipers and getting better rotors as I do, they have too much surface area for me. It just sucks that chevy had to make a bolt pattern for these that only a handful of companies make regularly. I have not seen a wheel (other than the konig "unknown") that I have liked that is made in a 18-5x110, but who wants to spend over 200 a wheel for some konigs? not I

I think the aftermarket 18's for the balt looks to small...but thats just me. I'd rather just stay stock than go with a new 18in wheel.

This pic show 18's vs 20's

hey VR06

saw you rolling around brooklyn park last weekend sort of by park center HS, I was riding with my fiance in her POS mopar stratus. Man, don't let me get started on that car. Just wondering if you saw me give you a head nod as we rolled past. I was surprised with myself i didn't try to hide my face from being seen in that car.

It coulda been me (sure it was, don't live too far away from PCHS) but I wasn't really paying attention. It probably was you and I just didn't look over.

Hey do you live in that big apartment complex off of regent, right before zane on the left?

I've rolled through there a few times, and you said you live in the ghetto (lol). If that is you, GET A DAMN GARAGE FOR THAT ****, lol! j/p.

Bought wheels+tires mounted from Tirerack.com. I can't remember how much they cost, think the whole package & shipping was $800ish. They are 16s.

Bizocg, i installed my Stage 2 which involved a pulley swap. If your friend said he had a tool to get the stock pulley off, I hope he's talking about a 40 ton press. I used a puller...and well we broke the puller. The stock pulleys are heat applied meaning they are heated up and cooled after the install which causes the pulley to shrink and REALLY grab on to the SC drive shaft. We had to apply 12 tons of pressure with the press before the pulley started to slip. I kind of jimmied the new pulley back on with a high power impact wrench and about 5 grade A bolts (yep, snaped 4 of them) and a bunch of washers. I can tell you more if you want, but long story short, I'd probably take it to a dealer/engine shop unless u know what you what ur doing (I had a buddy help me). BTW you'll have to go to a speel shop that deals with superchargers, Carx doesn't do this stuff.
