42's in a cobalt ls ?

im trying to help my friend out with his LS . . the car only hits 106 and then starts to shut down, so i was thinking that if you could put a pair of 42's in it . . ( i dont know if you can ) and retune it ( if you can ) would that solve this little problem and get him some more power ?

No, toss 60s in it. No tune required. It will be WTF fast.

you cannot tune the 2.2 yet. and 42lb/hr injectors would be stupid big for that motor without a turbo.

LOL - That is just wrong...

There is no way you can put 42s in a LS without getting a major tune. Not to mention, you would need some serious mods to even NEED 42s.

I would also agree that the reason the car shuts down at 106 is because of the limiter. No way to fix that without a tune as well. Even if you took the limiter off I don't think I would want to take an LS much above 110 without at least better suspension and tires.

Also in your sig: stage 3 - 2.7 zzp 42lbs injecters, HPtune

Wow, running a 2.7 with 42# injectors... even with a tune that doesn't sound safe...

Speed sensor is shutting it down, the computer is programmed for it cause of the LS's stock crap tires to keep them from exploding. Regarless if thyre chaged, you have to have the computer updated.
So far no one has tuning for the 05-06's yet

yo skim..not much u can do...there is no tuning for the 2.2 so u cant change the top speed limiter on the car..he has rims or the hubs...the hubs are yeah set to about 110 and the rims on the LS are set to about 120. if u put 42lb he wud get the shittiest mpg n ever with the stock ss/sc 32lb injectors as well. there is really not much to do about that problem..

You have two completely unrelated things going on here.

First, the car is programmed with a speed limiter (not rev limiter) that is shutting off fuel at the programmed speed. That speed varies based on the car's installed equipment. 105 tells me that he has a base model with 15" wheels. That's normal.

Second, bigger injectors have nothing to do with it at all. But since you asked. There is no need for larger injectors by them selves ever. A larger fuel injector is only needed as a supporting modification to some other change that requires more fuel (like a turbo). In order to use them, you have to be able to tune the car. Currently the only way of doing that is via a piggyback. But as I said, there is no need.

What you are looking for is a flash tuner that would allow you to remove the speed limiter from the stock computer. And currently, there is no such thing.

You don't need to go faster in an LS unless you want to die in a firey car crash.
Your brakes are not designed to handle those speeds, your tires are not designed to handle those speeds, your suspension isn't designed to handle those speeds in short your car isn't designed to handle those speeds! Don't get hurt or hurt others, drive like you have a brain in your head.
