Well me and like 5 members of my car club are going to the track in stanton MI tonight for there test and tune night. Its 15 bucks to run al night and its from 4:30 -9pm tonight.
Its like 8 bucks to watch.

I dont have a link to the track but its not hard to find. Just get on I-96 and go to Exit 67 hwy66 and go north about 26 miles till you get to stanton. Then make a right at the BP (there are sings for the stip) and go like 1/2 mile then go letf and (Follow the signs) and its about 1.5 miles up on the right side.

Well we had a good time. Soory it took so long to post about it my computer was messed up and it would not let me get on the net.

I made 10 runs total and did not lose a singal time.
Here is a run down of the runs I made.
1. 60' 2.434 1/4 14.489 My fist time on the track with this car.

2. 60' 2.293 1/4 14.269 Geting beter.

3. 60' 2.283 1/4 14.082 Geting better.

4. 60' 2.322 1/4 14.308 Wheel spin like mad off the line.

5. 60' 2.223 1/4 14.060

6. 60' 2.289 1/4 14.180 wheel spin in most of 2nd gear.

7. 60' 2.262 1/4 13.966 @ 102mph! Best run of the night and the only one in the 13s.

8. 60' 2.444 1/4 14.098

9. 60' 2.304 1/4 14.186 Hit the rev limiter in 2nd.

10. 60' 2.247 1/4 14.053

All in all not a bad night. I did not have a chance to run the car befoe the stage 2 kit was put on but there was an Ion RL there that said he was runing a 14.8 stock on this track. He had a few things done including a pully and some DRs and was runing a 14.2 all night.

The track sucked though. Prep was realy bad. Evey one there was saying so.
And it did not help that we where runing from 5pm tp 9pm right in to the sun!!! You could not see a thing going down the track.

I ran mostly V8 camaros and some stangs and I never lost. Not one time. Most of them where runing high 14s low 15s. Some of them where pissed that they where not kicking my but. But most where cool.

6 members of my car club where there but they where all show and most of them ran a 16 or higher. The fasts one was a Z28 and his best of the night was 14.4. (He dose have a 150K on the motor and trans though)

im going this wednesday, to stanton, not sure if im taking the cobalt or the Z yet though. i would like to get a mid 11 in the Z28 at the beginning of the season that move it down to mid 10s by the end

 

I am waiting on my helmet. If my helmet comes in tomorrow I will be there too.

 

I have a helmet But I did not need it. You only need one of you can run less then a 13.999. I only made one run in that rang out of the 10 total that I did.
I got my helmet at the local walmart for like 50 bucks.

I need to do a few more passes to get it to stay in the 13s. The car can do it the track and the driver where the problem.
I need more practice and the track needed some beter prep.

Ill be out there in a week or 2 if I can get home agen but mst likely will not be for about 3 weeks befor I get back to the track agen.

Did they check your helmet to make sure it met the Snell rating??? I better be in the 13s. I'll be pissed if I don't make 13s with my super secret racing skills or lack thereof.

 

Yes I did and they checked it at the track as well befor they would let me run.

I think need to resolve my traction problems befor I go back. Im geting way to much wheel hop and spin in 1st and 2nd gear.
It will be a few weeks befor I go back I think.

But I would love to come out and meet up with some one if they are going to run.

I have a list of things I need to get done befor it goes back on the track agen.

Its no a long list but its not a cheap one ether.

I find it hard to believe that every camaro and mustang there was running high 14's and 15's lol. Newer Camaros are 13 second cars, and even the LT1 runs low 14's. No offense, I own a RL as my daily driver but I also own an LS1 camaro, running 14's will not beat even a stock LS1.

 

I will go next Wednesday if IDD gets rained out on Sunday. I can't make it to the rainout day cause I have exams on Monday. So I guess it all depends on how the weather in Norwalk, Oh is going to act this weekend.

 

wow, a few months ago I was at the track and some guy was runnin 14.0's in his evo, he ran 13.998 and they kicked him off the track because he couldn't find an up to spec helmet to wear.

 

We one thing you you need te remeber is that the camaros where 99 and older and that the tracks prep SUCKED!
Most cars where haveing a vary hard time geting off the line. The camaros and stangs where pulling 2.5 60" times and most of the cars I raced where close to stock or had alot of miles on them.

Most of the guys there where saying that they where runing about .4 seconds slower then normal do to por track prep and the high humidity that day. (It raind that night)
That could explain why they where runing slower then you do.

Also the driver makes a realy big diferance to. I didnt know most of these guys and I have no clue if they can drive or not.
