More stage 2 bolts problems

Just got the GM bit I needed and I went outside to put on a nate's pulley. I was taking it real easy, got one of the blue bolts loose and just my luck I stripped the next one. They are unbelievably soft. I found a machine shop that will get them out for me but I know lots of people have had this problem and its not easy. Can someone give me some words of wisdom or advice to make sure that it's done right? I don't want them to eff up the supercharger or damage the st2 pulley. The car is going in friday so post up before then.

Try a breaker bar. You get more power into it. The key is to make sure the bit is completly on the bolt so you dont strip it.

Are you using a screwdriver bit? Those bolts are not phillips heads. There a specialty bolt that requires the proper tooling. I can't remember the name though sorry. Good luck.

I had the same problem. The dumbos at the dealer lock tited the blue bolts in when they were supposed to be just torqued. Anyway, take the s/c off and remove the remaining bolts, and drill out the stripped one. That should do it. Replace them with Nates bolts. Good luck.

I'm using the GM bit that came with the Stage2 kit and the bit was completely in the bolt but it tore up the bolt any way. They are definitely not loc-tited either because I got one loose fairly easily, the problem is I must have a weaker stock tensioner because with the car in gear the S/C pulley still moved around and around. This is what happened when I used a breaker bar. I meant is there anything I should tell the guys at the shop to be careful with when they get out that stripped bolt? Like how to get it out without damaging the stage 2 pulley or getting pieces of metal in the s/c? Thanks for posting up

If the pully is moving you can have a buddy cover the pulley with a heavy rag and clamp the pulley down with a large par of channel locks. Then try to loosen the bolts. Good luck.

Use an air rachet on a low impact setting and give it short bursts. Hold the pulley still with a strap wrench...worked for me.
