Unhappy Soo... I got pulled over..... Again..

Last night I was pulling out of a shipping center with my buddy in front of me. I get on the left LANe to let my friend know to turn left up ahead. By the second I turn left. I se a car behind me. So I quickly get bak into the right lane. Car behinds me was a cop and pulls me over.

Completely rude. And gives me 2 tickets. Unsafe lane change. And negligent driving.

But that does not matter. My question to you is that when he first came tO my car he said just so you know I'm recording all of this.
Then Aftet he left. He says you can take it to court. I have the whole thing on video.

I live in Montgomery county. Md. Does he HAVE to tell me that I am being recorded??
I think he is bluffing.

He doesnt have to tell you he is recording if he is going to use it for a court purpose (im in criminal justice) cops have been bad out trying to get there end of month ticket book complete lol. Which I dont understand since you can not video tape them for your own court purposes ? lol

Wv law says you have to "tell" the officer you have video/audio taping equipment (most likely they will throw a fit since most around here know as much as a 4 year old and don't wanna get caught looking like a jackass on video) or if they see it, they can take it if they want to be real dicks. If you dont stop, you can actually get "failure to obey police procedures" or something a long those lines. You are right redcobalt technically it isnt illegal to video tape the officers, but its very hard to correctly do so lol. Im going to keep my GoPro mounted on my windshield pointed at my window at all times just in case lol

I think since he's used to dealing with kids like you, he just expects you'll take it to court or try to get out of being accountable for your actions. He's just letting you know you'll be walking into the courtroom with a hi light reel of your offence playing in the background. Most traffic cops have had it with the compact scene. Don't be so sensitive.

I saw that. I was just saying that to redcobalt explaining on how cops are dbags here lol. The officer was basically trying to bully you. They dont have to tell you they are recording you. He is using that to make his job easier thinking this will scare you from trying to fight it

If you're studying criminal justice, you should also have known that there is no such thing as a "monthly quota".

Lol. actually there is. Im friends with numerous cops. May not be written point blank "Montly quota" but if the cops are "slacking" the whole month with pulling 1 or so people over this throws a red flag up to the chief/captain as they arent doing there job 100% Its kinda a game to them. I also intern with a local officer

If I was a video arts student, I would make a clay animation video of what happened and make the cop look like a dick

the two tickets you got were completely based on the officers opinion and judgement. im guessing why this is why he told you it was being recorded. if there was no video and you did take it to court it's just your word vs his which is pretty favorable in your odds.

You cut off a cop and can't believe you got a ticket? I doubt they have to tell you anything. He probably knows you will take it to court trying to fight it and wants you to know its on tape.

too bad if you take it to court its your word vs his, which 95% of the time the judge believes the cop unless you got some hardcore evidence.
