Wes, one word of caution, V's get a lot less "junk" signals, so don't just "wait and see" if it's a security system or something else setting it off. If you're getting a reading it's probably radar. You need to learn which ones are legal in PA and which ones aren't. If it's an illegal band, then you can ignore it, otherwise, LISTEN TO IT. You'll learn eventually what you need to pay attention to and what you don't.
Also, don't think of it as a safe haven. If you get pulled over with a radar locator (which a V is, it's not really a detector), be prepared to have the book thrown at you. And don't expect any deals. Usually the cop will write down "Radar detection/location device in use." and the judge will take that into consideration.
Otherwise I will now continue hating you Wes, I'd kill to have a V before I go back to school.
Speaking of redlines, what happened to Jon.
Apparently everyone hates me. Cavy owners, cops, god... lol
If I ever get pulled over with it, my first reaction is to grab it and throw it under my seat or in the back.

Wes, Did you get a ticket BOTH times??? I'm assuming that you got it in 2 different townships...
Where and how fast??
I rarely go over 60 in the prkwy, and when I DO, it's usually 5::30 in the AM, so there's rarely a cop out.
I had a scare going home from Beaver Run yesterday... I was going a tick over 70 ( with the flow of traffic ) and there was a LEO sitting on the side.... Well about 5 secs after I past him ( doing 65 ), he pulled out. My heart was in my throat! I thought "no way, he's pulling ME over for this when there was alot faster cars ahead". Namely a few hot shoes from the Auto-x. Well, he hung back for a while, and then finally passed.... WHEW
I'll post pics from the weekend later on. Gotta get some work done.

I can't believe yunz missed the autocross...Nice big fast course. Definitely a national level course. I was mid pack when I succumed to my cold and left at mid day. But I was only 3 seconds out of first on a car with a bone stock suspension and all season tires.!!
Tossing on some Falkens should knock a few second off that time and some good suspensions perhaps another with a decent alignment the car SHOULD rock.
I also ventured over to the HPDE and road race course and struck up a conversation with Jeff Mishtawy who is the assistant head crew chief for Neal Sapp and Jeff Lepper who campaign two Cobalt SSs in the USTCC and Gran Am cup. Their web site is www.teamcobaltcalifornia.com.
I got alot of suspension advice and got to look over his car. After a lengthy conversation on factory support for his race team (from Chevy) he offered me a pit pass to stay in the pits with the team for Mid Ohio next weekend.
Let me tell you his car was unbelievably set up suspension wise..but alot of what he had there could easily be duplicated for a nasty street set up. He offered to send a rear axle to Hotchkis to get them going on fabbing some sway bars. Also mentioned Progress has started coilover production and R&D on coilovers. I sent Silvio ( a long time contact) an email at progress gett ing an update on the coilovers. Jeff also talkedme through his camber plate he used on the car (old VW parts but seemed to work very well with minimum mods.
Great weekend for me!

George,
Great meeting ya this weekend. You are a lucky SOB! I was looking at the car from afar, and the driver said "come on over and look", but they were busy getting ready for a run, so I didn't talk to anyone. Alicia asked if I got any info on stuff, so you answered most of her questions....lol.
Great to hear about the work they are doing. I'll have to check out their site and see the car better.
See you at the next Auto_X

On a side note I would like to wish myself a Happy Birthday today. I am now officially 24...man does that kinda suck.

George,
I'm DEFINITELY interested in what you find out. I REALLY want to start building up my suspension. I think my car's fine power wise, I MIGHT throw on a pulley but I really don't want to go much past that.
Can't wait to hear what you find out, keep me posted.
And if you end up not being able to go to Mid-Ohio I know someone who could give your pit pass a very good home...
Yes, that would be ME... I want that pass....lol
Pittsburgh SS...
I'm always up for the cruise. I WILL say that I will be leaving the cruise some time after 8:30 to head to Bridgeville. My friend's band is playing that night adn I've not seen them in a while.
So far, the waether looks good for the weekend. Sunday is iffy.

So here is a question...Has anyone ventured into taking the dash apart?? I would linke to get rid of all the siver trim but i dont want to just start pulling at the pieces to see if they come off. I need to know if it is just clips or if it has screws as well??

LOL Dave did it for me, but I helped. No it didn't tear the plastic, they were just REALLY in there, we had to re-bend some of them to get them to go back in. Just be careful around the radio, that's the only place I got some "dings"
Hey Steve,
Happy B-day man! and just for those wondering who the oldest in the Burgh crew is.....Look no further.... For it is ME.
I think Wes is the toddler of the group as well....
I know you were talking about Honda parts earlier when we met.....
I got a buddy with a 92 Accord, and he needs a sensor for it... do you know any place locally that he could get one cheap?? I asked him to get me a part #. He has this as his "beater" and don't want to pay what the dealer wants.
Any help would be great.
And yeah, from what Dave and Alicia have stated, that is a PITA, but if you're careful it should turn out nice. Dan has his SS/NA painted as well.

My dash is painted too... the clips are a PAIN. I have to go get some new ones so that I can get my trim back in all the way. It's out by about 1/8 of an inch. Not very noticable at all, but it is to me.
Yeah... I meant to comment about how you had all your screws in nice and snug... can't say Dave's got a screw loose anymore.
Man, after yesterday... I want my car running better. Those Auto-X guys got me addicted.
You should've seen the twin-charged Mini Cooper S there.
Even an open wheeled car ran.
