F/S Aftermarket Cams & Solid Lifters

I have a set of brand new after market camshafts that I had purchased to put into my DD Cobalt. I am now trying to sell them because the project needs the money more than the DD needs cams.

These cams were bought from Bates Engineering and were ground by Comp Cams for Bates who was the one who installed my sleeves and did all of the prep work on the block. He knew all of the components of my DD build and he said these cams were meant for a modified engine such as mine.

These cams are not for stock motors nor a stock head. These cams are also not for an M62. Bates referred to these cams as "turbo cams" and said they would be fine on a built engine with TVS.

The lifters are also from Bates and they are needed to run these cams. For maximum utilization Bates recommends that each lifter be fitted for it own position. Bates said that because the way our heads are cast that nothing is exact.

After mentioning all of that I must say that these cams are not for the person who just wants to drop them in and forget about them. There is some work required to get everything out of them as far as performance goes.

I am selling the cams and lifters as a set, I will not seperate them as the person buying the cams needs the lifters. Someone will ask what the cam profiles are and my answer is, 'I don't know'. I have enclosed a picture of the spec cards from Comp Cams but the specs are all 0's. I did call Comp and ask about the profiles and was told that the numbers were proprietary to Bates himself. I know that I could have them read but at a cost of $75.-$100. I am not willing to spend the cash. If someone really wants the numbers before buying these it can be arranged with that cost paid up front and on top of the selling price.

I have also enclosed a copy of the invoice from Bates so you know what I paid for them.

I will sell the set of cams & lifters for $550. shipped/insured. If you are interested let me know. Many people on the forums know me and some have bought from me, who know that I am trustworthy and will ship these parts quickly and in the shape that the pictures show.

These cams will also pop up on the other forums as I know these cams are for the serious modder of which they aren't alot.

Thanks for reading and here are the pics (clicking on picture will enlarge them).

CAMS/LIFTERS have been SOLD

The number I have for Bates is different than the receipt so here are both

714-612-3639 (the one I used when I bought the cams)

714-545-0159 (the one on my receipt)

So basically you are going to get Bates to make you a set of cams pretty much like the ones I am selling?

Fair enough but do some research on the GMR cams as I don't know that you will get the best results staying with a stock head & SC. Aftermarket are usually meant for P&P head with valve springs upgrades as a minimum, to maxamize the air flow of the cams.

As for my cams, Bates says they are good for my S/C'ed setup as I am P&P'ed, upgraded valve train/sleeved/forged piston/billet connecting rods/billet crankshaft/meth/3" exhaust and blower (TVS). If these camshafts/lifters don't sell (I expect them not to sell) then they will go into my '06 SC'ed DD.
