Was a Courier used or Canada Post?

Couriers charge brokerage fees.

I once paid more in fees to get an item shipped from the US to Canada. $30 for item and $39 for fees from UPS plus tax on top of $39 because it was a 'service"

State side it is much cheaper to ship stuff. Geography of Canada and limited roads means higher shipping fees. We also pay a lot more for fuel

The other thing I always try to do when shipping to the US is use the smallest possible packaging. The volume is what you pay for. Weight is only a small portion of the cost.

If I sent you a 12'x12'x12' 1 lb. brick of Styrofoam and you lived in Florida it would cost $40 to ship
If it was 10 lbs. still $40

Price goes up at after that.

It was the smallest box that would fit everything because they were just mounts, not too easy to break. Went USPS because that's what the guy asked for who I was shipping it to.

So it was $54 bucks for you to ship the mounts to Canada then?

Where did they go?

Yeah I agree that sounds a bit ridiculous.

Best be for anyone in Canada getting parts in the US (if they are close to the border) is to make use of a shipping depot in the US and go pick it up.

I used to do this all the time. A lot of vendors offer free shipping to the USA.

I would go pick it up in Point Roberts which for you trivia fans actually requires you to enter Canada to get to unless you go by boat. Most of the people living there are Canadians.

Point Roberts, Washington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So kind of strange that I would still get free shipping to there.
