For Sale Polished/Wrinkle Black LSJ valve cover
Polished first and then painted. The sanding/polishing creates too much dust/residue that needs to be completely cleaned out, there's no way you could use the chemicals on the fresh paint and it would still look fresh when it got done, also you won't get the nice cut lines like you can with taping.
Polishing doesn't really work out on the rounded covers, it only looks good on the LSJ ones IMO because you can get a nice mirror finish (well as close as you can get on cast aluminum) and keep clean lines for the edges.
I've done this on VVT covers :

Brush finish the raised areas, paint the cover, fill in the letters with the same or a different color ( I loved the red with black letters myself)
