But since HKS are Piston operated, they make an upgraded purple piston to handle more PSI then the stock one. Its cheap too. He just ordered that to handle his boost and stop the flutter.

My question about my Greddy is, when I 1st start my car I get compressor surge under normal driving when everything is cold. I mean i will be driving down my block and it will be surging at every shift no matter what the boost. As soon as things warm up it stop and will blow off like normal. Is this normal? and why the hell would that happen. I sprayed some WD-40 inside the BOV on the piece that raises and lowers to let the air out, seemed to help a tad bit and when it blows off you hear it seal real nice when its done, but WD-40 only lasts so long b4 you need more
the Greddys surge alot when cold for some reason. mine did i had the type RS.

theres a new HKS coming out, i hear it is much much better than the previous 2, i would try that one.

the other 2 are known to leak under heavy load.

y do you hook it up at the track and not for daily driving? your car doesnt react to the non-recirc?

My car runs EXACTLY the same vented as it does recirced. I mean I was very suprised. Not 1 Check engine light, spool time isnt any different, sound is awsome, had it tuned and A/F was fine, no knock. everything is straight. I really dont need to recirc at all but I went ahead and bought the hose and cut it to size just for the option if I wanted to. But I mean the sound the Vented makes is just sick and addicting. Recircing it makes it VERY quiet. I started getting used to it and then 1 day I took it off to see what happened and my god as soon as it blew off I forgot how much I loved that sound and havent put it back on since

If you look at the vids under my car of the month, there cheesy but you can hear my Greddy pretty good

i see.

evos are made to run recirced is y i ask. you pop off the recirc hose on our BOVs and the car doesnt want to idle below 1000rpm.

it's basically all how u want it to sound. non-recirc if u wanna show off, or re-circ for quiter more of a stealth mode depending on how loud your BOV is.

Exactly the case on a Cobalt. If you want it to be loud but not ricey and you buy a spring BOV such as a Greddy, keep it at softest setting and itll be louder than stock but not super loud that you sound like a ricer.

So would you have to do a lot of work just to get it to be vented to atmosphere or is it as simple as pulling off the recirc tubing?

Its as easy as never installing any recirc tubing lol. BOV's come ready out of the box to vent atmospherically. To recirc you need to weld a nipple on the intake, buy a recirc adapter for the BOV usually, find heater hose that fits, and worm drive clamp it on. If you just want the BOV, just weld the BOV flange on your charge pipes, put the BOV on it. POOF. Would suggest a block off plate for your stock BPV though. Get one at
