It is, but the D5100, which came out before mine is similar to what I have. My sister has a D5100 that she never uses.

Take her 5100 and give her the 3100. The 5100 had a better sensor. The sensor on the 5100 is virtually identical to that on mine, the D7000. There are some other minor differences but they're very similar.

Lets see you have the kit lens, you have the zoom, you have a wonderful piece of fixed gorgeousness, what about a micro lens? Remote control is a plus for shooting on tripods at night.

I found the lens you have and you're right it isn't expensive at all! I kind of want to get it now [not that I don't have enough lenses].

I also want an FM10 film camera. Decisions, decisions...

Yeah I did a little reading on it, she wouldn't be down for a trade, plus I'm kind of attached to my camera with its little purple accents lol. What type of micro lense? And I was also thinking of getting a remote for night shots on a tripod, that's the hardest thing for me is getting them super clear. I usually just take a whole lot of them and hope at least 1 or 2 come out lol. I was thinking of maybe getting a good wide angle also. I was really surprised at how well my new lense works when considering how cheap it was. I rented the 35mm 1.4, and that thing retails for over $1k, and I think this one is really on par with it.

The remote is cheap if it's the same one I bought. I think it was $20 Canadian. I just need to buy a tripod now.

Get wireless seriously I paid $20 for mine. I have the ML-L3, see if that works with your camera. You need to have IR receivers and I'm sure you do because my D60 is older than that and it has them.

Mine is wireless. I may have been wrong with how much it cost. It was 3 years ago lol.

There are some expensive wireless ones but yeah this ML-L3 wasn't much.

Amazon.com: Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control: Camera & Photo

$15.91 now

It's got good range and works well. I don't think I used it when I was in Cali Ris so you probably didn't see it.

I haven't heard of that lens. I'm not a good person to go by though as I pretty well only look at nikkor lenses. As long as the review are pretty good though, I can't see why that wouldn't be a pretty good zoom lens. I would look at the 70-300 f4.5-5.6 nikkor if you wanted something with a little more zoom. you loose a little speed aperture wise on the bottom but you gain some on the top end.

I can't wait until friday… going to pick up my 35mm 1.8!! Lots of photos this weekend! lol

I have the 70-300mm and I can tell you it's a great lens. It is heavy though but it's great. It weighs more than my D7000 body LOL.
