Speaking of which - I truly need to learn sunset and sunrise photographs, it is one realm I literally have no skillz in whatsoever.
Now I've been told dodging & burning is essential to these glorious photographs and again this is something I never do. My editing is always as minimal as possible so - anyone can offer any potential tips? Also don't link me to Digital Photography School, I think I've wasted more paper printing stuff there than anywhere - and yes I have books and what not but let's face it, a book saying something vs. someone actually doing... yeah!

idk why u would need to use those tools unless you needed to darken/lighten certain areas after messing with the raw.
they both have highlight, midtones and shadow. sounds like alot of extra steps, isolate a person's shadow and darken it haha and do contrast type stuff

This is a part of photography where I'm really interested in.
One person I follow who's style is really edited is 1013mm.. It amazes me how much work you can put into editing, but of course it all looks artificial and not everybody likes that look.
I like more minimally edited work compared to styles like 1013mm.

..like this does not count as a before & after shot you tool.

For example, this was shot with my 55-200mm kit lens at 90mm:
And here's one that I stumbled upon from my last July 4th in England. It has nothing to do with bokeh, but I think it's a pretty cool looking shot. Especially since I did it free hand with no tripod or anything:
Be gentle about the noise in the pic, I was still very very new to photography at this point lol.

Local guy is big on editing...and though he is an absolute master of his craft; he is no longer a photographer; he's an artist. I respect his work a lot, mainly because I can't do it (nor do I want to) but the only reason I dislike him is his elitist attitude and how he mocks a more natural edit.. it's like a roid-head laughing at a natural bodybuilder because he can't bench 405 for reps.

I just went on his website. I find though his stuff is obviously composited to the trained eye, the pictures look somewhat believable given the right location and circumstances. They look like car commercials. The guy I contrasted to just flashes wheels to +3 and ambiance to -3 and makes his pictures so obviously fake that nothing makes sense anymore.
wat.
wat.

I cleaned my car, then had to go do some training up in northern Cali for 3 weeks, came home and the weather has been **** here in Texas so now my car is dirty again . I did like a 2 hour detail and everything hoping that it would be nice and shiny to go take some awesome sunset pics but I guess that's not going to happen lol.
