Fifth time's a charm?

Each has its own respective Pro's and Con's.

Your points are valid... I'm not arguing that... never have. But my points are valid as well. This is not an argument that either of us can truly "win"... so just drop it.

do u think you will benefit from having the blow thru style maf vs our regular maf..... did the stock connector work or did u need the one from the donor... just tryin to decide a route sorry for all the questions
The only thing I bought from Rebel was the pulley delete. Got the manifold from Vulcan Turbo, turbo from Slowboyracing, Tial BOV and wastegate from another forum at a great price. Got the throttle body adaptor from someone on here, it was from TAG. The maf is from a newer 6.0l GM truck, also a bunch of other newer GMs and the connector had to be changed to work. I have a post on here somewhere with part numbers. The rest of the stuff I made myself.

ahh ok.... so what size piping did you go with and is it aluminum or steel? looks like 3 inch but pics make it hard to tell.... what about the MAF u got it from a gm 6.0 truck... did u need the harness connector from it too?

Yes I did need a new connector as I said in the last post. It's 3" aluminum pipe, got a bunch off ebay for cheap. Really should be 2 1/2" from the turbo till you get close to the maf though, then up to 3". It still spools goot though and is making 15psi around 3500rpm. Feels way quicker, track times will tell.

I drill the spot in the block on the back where the turbo saab's have a hole for their drains.

Right now I'm having trouble with my boost controller I think, it's just a cheap ebay one. I keep turing it up but the boost isn't going up any. My wastegate has a 1.1 bar spring in it so that's all it's at right now.

My charge pipe is all 3", I'm gonna change it out when I get a intake mani and IC stuff.

So I see 16psi by 3500-3800, don't know if I'd see more at that rpm or not if my boost controller wasn't screwed.

Oh I'd love to but I don't see it happening, it's a bad date for me. I do plan on getting down to other meets though.

i would have thought youd see quicker spool then that....seems pretty slow...but then again we have a short first gear so it wouldnt really matter

cough*manifold*cough

proper boost control is ****** HUGE when talking spool times and peak boost rpm range....

cheep controllers and ill-thought out set ups are prone to cracking the gate to early and drastically effecting spool tims.

alright got it... now last question..... other then ordering that drill fixture tool from garrett is there anything I could find online or at a hardware store that would work so that I dont drill on a angle cause thats a tight spot to drill in or would it be easier to get from the inside of the block?

Can someone explain thi to me please cuz i don't know that much: I thought a turbo was run off your exhuast? So why is the piping run from the throttle body to the turbo and then to the air filter. Where does the exhaust part come into play?

I drilled and taped the block where the red circle is. I put a 1/2" NPT fitting in there. The pressure line is where the blue circle is.

There is two parts to a turbo, the exhaust side (hot side) and the compressor side (cold side). A shaft connects the two, so the exhaust spins the hot side which in turn spins the cold and the air goes through the charge pipe to the throttle body. It sucks the air in where the filter is.

yea I understand now and what needs to be done thanks to 06black for the instructions. I was confused with the oil feed spot at first cause i didnt relise there was a plug that you remove... do you recall off hand what thread pitch fitting you used for the feed? only thing that concerns me is getting in there with enough room to drill properly into the block for the return

I drilled it in the car with the pan off. In all honesty I'd just drill the pan and get a fitting welded in if I was going to do it again. It's pretty easy to mess up the block.

Can't remember the thread pitch on the feed line, PM Vulcan Turbo, that's who I got my fitting from.

Aprrox how much $ do have into the swap? How much approx for the parts? What are you running for a exhaust? Is it a custom downpipe? and what catback do you run?

I would like to look at this swap as well in the near future
