I think people will be disappointed when the 1.4L turbo becomes reality.

These pics should definitely be sent to GM. The most we can do is try. Copyright your design first though so you can get some cash off of it If the cruze is supposed to be replacing the cobalt, it should be replacing the cobalt in all aspects, average daily driver and super sport models. I agree with others that they should just keep the cobalt name.

Haha would be nice , but basic structure of the car is GM design . I just nip, tucked to actually make it look good . There are many things I did not change from the original 4 door picture , which is why I say ...this thing has potential . "IF" GM cares to push the design envelope a little and not play it so safe . I didnt do anything radical to this car at all , so sumthing that looks just like this should be as fesible as the current cobalt coupe . All I really did was add the ground effects , heighten the grill for the FMC , swelled the wheel flares out a bit , changed whats inside the headlamp but kept the same shape , and obviously changed the greenhouse to a coupe . It doesnt cost more to build a good looking car and an econo car doesnt have to look like one just because it is . IT would be a shame if this car came out looking like ass because the basic design elements are there for it to look really kick ass .

Heres the pic I started out with .

Thanks again for the props .

Gm has already released press info that the turbo 1.4 is the base engine for the Cruze , and theyve publicly shown the car in Europe . No other US powertrain info has been released yet , GM is only talking about the econo models . N like Acey said , a turbo diesel for overseas markets .

At launch in Europe, Cruze will be available with 16-valve, 1.6-liter (112 hp/82 kW) and 1.8-liter (140 hp/103 kW) gasoline engines featuring variable valve timing (VVT) on both inlet and exhaust sides, giving more power as well as better fuel economy and lower emissions. A new 2.0-liter turbo diesel, developing 150 hp/ 110 kW and 320 Nm of torque adds power with even greater frugality. Five-speed manual gearboxes and an all-new automatic transmission, Chevrolet's first six-speed application in the compact segment, complete the powertrain menu.
I'd think that 1.8 will be for the North American market, not sure if it's the same one already in the Astra.

It still a year away in the US . The Astra is so popular in Europe I really doubt they would get a cruze coupe to go with the Astra 2-door . Saab also gets a version on the new chassis so the Euros are covered on Delta II 2-doors from mild to wild . Given that , doubt youll hear anything about a cruze coupe for the US for a lil while yet ...."if" it happens at all .

If it doesn't happen then the Cobalt coupe will stay... because there's no way Chevy is going with a 2-door compact.

Right?

Highly doubtful. With the cobalt they are trying to get into the "tuner" crowd and they have done a good job. Most likely the cruze will come in a two door. I don't think they will just drop their tuner crowd like that.

Not only tuner crowd, I mean the crowd that buys a 2-door Chevrolet compact. That would be any variant of a Cavalier coupe, Cobalt coupe, etc. Massive market.
