Don't Hate!
the cobalt has factory tow spots? where the **** at? i have never seen them... never been stuck enough to need pulled out... besides in front of the house and i just left it there till the snow melted
I admire the 'DIY' because I love to fabricate things myself instead of just buying them..
However.. being an engineer.. it kinda concerns me haha.
Having a hole creates massive stress concentrations by itself, but a JAGGED hole adds to the problem twofold.
I hope you used a good grade of steel.. if not, that jagged hole might cause you problems. Heck.. even if you did use a good grade of steel, it might still cause problems.
I'm not bashing..!

the small holes/bolts used to bolt it on are the more likely to give first followed by the bumper support then the jagged hole. yes it causes stress points but i dont see it being the reason it would fail... at least not on a cobalt

and yeah x2 on the waiting for destruction thread.
lol this isn't a ******* dumptruck, do you really think that hole is gonna fail pulling a cobalt. I mostly made this so I could pull the car back to my house when it broke down again, seems to happen alot lately
Go buy a decent dremel for like $50 or $60 and clean that hole out. Get rid of the red and paint it black. Why do you want a red tow hook? Just paint it black and it will look so much better.
