theres a feature you can turn on called "Swype" in settings, its so you can swipe (or trace) words on the keyboard in text entry. It works awesome, and it lets you enter words fast. So far this phone is awesome

You can Swype on a bunch of Android phones, if not all. It's fast as hell if you're good at it.

So I've been having one problem with the phone so far... not a huge one though.

My phone won't always play the notification tone for notifications, texts, and E-Mails. It'll play the ringtone for every call and will vibrate for every notification though.

There have been some articles that have linked some peoples' alarms or phone/notifcation tones to the Smart Profile's feature for laying the phone on its face to put it in vibrate mode and such. Some people have that feature turned on and when used it won't revert back to the normal ring mode. Currently the only way to get the call ringer back is to reset the phone and make sure the Smart Mode features are off. I don't know if that's what happened in my case because the call and alarm tones work fine, it's just the notification/text/E-Mail one(s) and only sometimes at that. It's wierd.

This isn't just an issue with the Droid X though it doesn't sound like. Other Android devices, such as the Nexus One, are also having it happen. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Have you checked your settings on each one of them? Go into your email-->option menu-->email settings-->notifications. Make sure that theres a check mark for notifications and select your ringtone and if you want it to vibrate. Do that for them all and you should be good to go!

So Verizon going to follow ATT into capped data plans.

Looking that way.

Trying to screw everyone.

At least most people never go over 2GB unless if you're tethering with your phone.

Yep... all settings both general and app-specific are as they should be. The phone plays the notifications/texts/emails sounds and then after a while it won't for whatever reason. A reboot fixes it.

I'm trying to narrow down what I could be doing as far as apps I'm running that could be causing it to suddenly stop playing the sounds and only vibrating.

The Android and Moto forums have had some people on them reporting similar things. Luckily I'm not having any of the call or alarm not ringing issues that some have reported. Those both work everytime for me. Hopefully a fix will come out, as I'm not changing any settings and during that time it'll work for a while and then suddenly not work anymore.

Sounds like you have a faulty device, I would get a replacement ASAP.
