Finally Did the Evo Mod
In my opinion buschur is the way to go. They will make sure the car is done right w/out sacrificing longevity AND their prices arent out to rape you. In addition of the big two vendors ( AMS and buschur ) theyre the only ones that sell and tune FP turbos. AMS turbo kits will cost you 3k+ and dont come with supporting mods. An FP turbo will cost you under 2k and bolts right up to the car with no modification needed. Buschur also sells the bushwacker tranny kit which is good for 800 awhp and only costs $850. When it comes to quality at an amazing price you cant beat buschur.
Its been a few months since I bought the Evo so I thought I'd do a little update incase anyone was curious. So far, the car has been pretty good to me. I changed all the fluids about a week or so after buying it, rotated tires and all that other jazz. I have had a few little gremlins here and there but nothing too major. The biggest thing so far was a leaking drive shaft seal that was covered under warranty.
At this point, the car has a TurboXS turbo back dual exit exhaust, AMS intake, MAP UICP and a Cobb stage 2 Off The Shelf tune. I recently purchased a set of Enkei Kojin wheels and some Progress springs. I really like the setup. I plan to have the wheels powder coated eventually b/c the blue/black combo is super common and I can't stand having the same stuff as everyone.
I've done the first 2 SCCA Solo events this year. I have a lot learn about this car but it has been a fun learning experience. I think the car's weight really needs to be counteracted with some higher grip tires like Star Specs or Rivals. I just don't have the cash yet for them so I'm rocking some BFG KDWs I got off a buddy for a steal.
Here are some pictures and a video or two of some of my runs...
