I would say maybe even the crash bar for damage. looking at the damage on the other car i really dont think a plastic bumper and headlight will cause that

Hard to say with the insurance company in BC. The right fender was pushed into the door. Pretty much comes down to what's under the bumper

Depends on if its structural or not, the skins (fender, bumper) can shift alot on the outside, but as long as the frame itself isnt damaged, usually you will be hard pressed to get it written up as a total loss. Rad support being damaged and replaced is a very common repair in front end collisions, christ i think rad supports for my integra were like 100 bucks new from bodymasters.

lol i should take a picture of my trunk from the bottom, previous owner (woman) got rear ended and the whole trunk is crumped in about a foot, however for some reason it plays no factor whatsoever in how the rest of the car is put together. Even on the inside of the trunk it is completely normal shaped. Looks like as if the trunk is a double skin and only the outside was damaged.

Yup as I said, seems mostly cosmetic unless there's something hiding. Hell, my woman had every panel from the front to the rear of the passenger side down replaced in a t bone style collision. Over half the worth of the car in damage, but they fixed it. Modern car accidents look worse than they are as things are designed to absorb impact, or fall away. Most cars nowadays are designed like F1 cars.

only thing that worries me is the seam in the wheel well has more of a buckle on the side hit compared to the other side now.

They may be able to weld a new one in. It'll come down to labor cost.

If it's anything like the honda's, which it probably isnt, thanks gm, but they are basically put together like puzzle pieces in the front, and the strut tower might be divided up into a couple of sections that they can just remove the tack welds, and replace that section. The big thing is the frame rails of the car, that will be the deciding factor I think, and even then the frames can be straightened on a frame machine right back to factory spec, but thats where it gets pricey and thats what can push it up above that point where its totalled.

People have definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, gotten worse at driving, or at least more reckless. I don't remember other drivers being so rude or dangerous as they have been in the last couple of years. Maybe I'm just getting older and more wise but I definitely have noticed a change in driving habits. Everyone's in a huge hurry and treat their daily drives like a low-speed NASCAR race for retards.

The last straw for me was when I was driving a family member's SUV in the far right lane of a 3 lane highway going 10mph over. A line of cars passed by in the far left lane, literally bumper to bumper, doing at least 80 in a 65. A quarter mile up ahead somebody changed from the middle lane to the far left lane and clipped someone's rear bumper, spinning that car out 360 degrees. 4 or 5 cars crashed into each other and parts were scattered all over the road. Being in a truck-based SUV I was sitting way higher than most cars and saw the entire thing. That was enough for me and since then I have had no tolerance for dangerous drivers. Keep an eye out for them and if they're around you, keep them in front of you rather than behind.

/rant I hate people like the guy in the Lumina.

Last December I had my rear quarter panel passenger side clipped by a pretty big cube van.

I was doing about 30km/h, and the truck was pulling out of of a parking lot, and just pulled out right into me.

It caused my ass end to jump to the left about 2 feet!

4500$ worth of damage, but they fixed it.

Good luck!

bored so heres some more close up pictures

Preliminary estimate is $6700 before looking underneath or pulling off body panels

insurance company totals at 70% of cars value

airbags didnt go off, i was going around 40 or 30 when i hit, did quite a bit more damage than i thought at the scene of the accident, probably because it hit on an angle

luckily it was settled in less than 3 days that the other party is 100% at fault

drive side frame rail/crash bar, didnt take much hit here

good thing airbags didn't go off i hear they are an absurd amount of money to replace. thats a fair bit of damage but i think kbb is around 11000-13000 for our cars here so you might be close!

So it should be fixable, looks similar to my crash, difference was because no one stopped I was given at fault, so at least you have that regardless. If the place does good work then it'll be the same as new. Just make sure they actually do good paint and get an OEM front bumper, lastly make sure to tell them not to drill the holes for the plate, I was mad I forgot to say that. Powell's tow hook and license plate mount works really good.

ack, 6700 already, wasnt what I was expecting, you might be boned on this one. I know if the airbags had gone off you would be done, 2 front airbags is an easy 2-3000 bucks depending on the car. Frame rail doesnt look that bad, but would have to be measured to be able to tell for sure. Kinda hard to tell from pictures alone.

Insurance companies dont use KBB value lol insurance is probably looking at around 9-10k in overall value depending on the mileage, if they tack anything else onto that bill he could be looking at it being totaled.

actually have a local owner working on it once hes not busy, seen the work their painter does and its mint, getting the whole passenger side repainted, grille painted black and cleared, front bowtie shaved to a smooth crossbar and painted black.... providing its not totaled, lol, if its totaled i hope the retain in and part it out. also may get the interior trim color matched while its there.

as for the frame rail there was a base model parked right in front of my car that we were comparing the frame rail to :P and it is definitely bent.

oh and no holes are goign to be drilled for the front plate
