it's a very washed out scene simply cus of where you were. I think the only thing that could have improved the image would be to increase the contrast so at least the tree limbs stand out a bit more from the snow. Perhaps a CPL would have helped but I think post processing would be your only choice. Though not being there I am not quite sure what it looked like and the exif data is missing from the image so we have no clue what settings you used.

crusin.

Those images are very flat. One thing you can do in PP is auto adjust the levels and then adjust the curves of the picture to pump the picture up a little bit.

here are some quick fixes to the 2 of the HDRs.

For starters......it's not a good HDR picture. WAAAAY too apparent and the halos are ridiculous. It's so blown out that it should've been kept as a normal photo but properly exposed. That's what annoys me with this HDR fad that every beginner wants to do, it needs to look somewhat natural to pull it off well. Very few do.

If you have a tripod use it and get very long exposures. I just did some shooting in our last snow storm here. The lighting can really add some nice characteristics to the photos.

crusin....that picture is ok but it is very much too dark and too flat. You would want to adjust the levels and curves on that to bring out the contrast between the white ground and the dark trees.

im gonna be making one here this weekend myself. I did my high schools ID cards during my junior year the one tip I have for you is go big ... as in DPI. 300 PPI is photo quality which is equal to 300dpi on a pro printer, 600dpi on a lazer printer and 1200dpi on an inkjet. For the most part business cards are held at arms length so you can get away with 150ppi as long as you use a solid font but otherwise I would use 300.

My first draft ID got printed like just over a week before it was going to be submitted and I nearly **** my pants when I saw how crappy it looked and realized I had to come up with higher quality images and practically redo all the graphics aside from just adjusting the fonts and this was in a computer art class so I had little time. I wish I knew where the blank was they printed for me so I could post it I will have to find it.

Underexposed, lack of very interesting content, could use a better setting. I think going back to that place again at sunrise when it's clear out, and shooting it from a different perspective would serve as a pretty nice shot
