Those HHR motors have 260 whp? If this is true I'm not going to be very happy owning a SS/SC. Just imagine bigger injectors, intake, exhaust, and bigger turbo +tune would do for a SS/TC. Looking at well over 300whp!

It is more plausible they will make the Cobalt SS again with a Turbo than with a SC. It is extremely plausible they would use the LNF engine becuase it is much improved over the LSJ, and it is very plausible that the HHR SS is a precursor to a Cobalt SS/TC. The HHR SS uses the LNF and the same suspension as the Cobalt SS/SC. It's very plausible for 2009 I would think. It also makes sense to leave a 1 year gap, so SS/SC owners aren't rip-roaring mad when a TC comes out a few months after buying an SC.

It's plausible if you think about it. Proven? No way. That's the way they like it.

Do you really think GM cares whether the customers are happy or not AFTER they buy the car? The sale is said and done thats all they care about.

traction already sucks with 210hp. 300 would be ridiculous on the delta unless GM did major upgrades to it, which they wont b/c it'll up the price too far and turn young buyers to suburu and mitsubishi.

Honestly... I don't see a turbo cobalt in factory form being realistic unless they made AWD or RWD, and that's just not going to happen b/c the cobalt is in GM's economy devision. They make all their money on trucks and higher end sports cars like the GXP and Vette. They don't have room for a $30,000+ economy coupe.

6 posts or not... I agree with the guy above. It's not going to happen. This is no different than the Cavalier Turbo Sport that never happened. It's not practical in GM's lineup.

GM has no reason to build a turbo cobalt b/c Dodge ditched the SRT-4 Neon, so there's no competition. And unless they made the turbo cobalt AWD (which they wont) it cant compete with the STI or EVO either. So my bet is that all w e're going to see is the turbo HHR to compete with the Caliber SRT and Mazdaspeed 3. That turbo hatchbacks are the new fad.
sorry buts thats ridiculous. Who cares what Dodge does and that ugly POS Calibre? Dodge gave up the 2dr small coupe market years ago. Chevy persisted and I see tons of 2dr Cobalts. This is a brief hiatus for the Cobalt SS. I'll be anyone money

Now that is funny. And true. Also in one of my earlier comments I did mean Chevy when I said GM. Cause currently GM has 3 cars, Solstice, Sky and Cobalt. I just don't see Chevy having 2 cars themselves. The Cobalt SS/SC only totals 5% of total Cobalt sales. Which is why they didn't bother working on the LSJ motor to keep the SS/SC alive in 08. So they turned their focus on the HHR SS which has been in the works for a while. The Cobalt SS/TC would have hardly any testing done to it if it came out this year. And like others, only time will tell but I don't see them happening. Sadly.

there is nothing visually different except the rims though, you would think that after 5 or 6 years there would be a slight change in the way they look, i dont think gm would just slap a different motor and different wheels on and be like ss/t.. but there is a badging underneath the ss that would probably tell you what type of f/i it is if only someone could zoom in and clarify like on csi haha

'08 would only be the 4th year. changes usually happen after 4th or 5th year, so it may be a couple more before the body changes at all.

1. Remeber the old pics of the turbo hhr? They didn't look like the new HHR SS we have seen in borchures, they looked like a regular HHR with a front mount sticking out the front. 2. GM isn't gonna just bow out of the sport compact scene after they just jumped right in with both feet. 3. the 260hp LNF's rating isn't that extreme for a FWD. It puts down very similar WHP #'s as the LSJ and about 25 lb/ft more. 4. Well thats all i got for now.
