I saw one this weekend. I almost didn't think that it was a Saturn. it was a very sharp looking car. It is on the Malibu platform.

one would assume, its not a stretch--that every model Saturn sells will have a Redline at some point. A direct-injected 3.6L should go to the Aura--give it a bit of a hp boost.

And the new 08 Vue ha sa RL too--but its the same enigne/hp as the normal V6 Vues

as for that vue redline, its a honda V6 they put in it, not exactly the best choice for it. Also that G6 GXP we saw it at the auto show, i thought it was pretty gaudy, to much polished metal and chrome. Also people think the wing on the SS is fugly but the one on this G6 was no better if not worse. but again to each his own

thats the 04-07s. New 08 has the 3.6L GM DOHC engine.

As for the best choice---yeah the Honda engine was the best choice at the time---far more powerful then GMs crappy 3.0 DOHC from Eurupe they used from 02-03

No it's not. It is on the Delta platform which is what the Ion, Cobalt, G5, and HHR is on.

Wikipedia says that they are using the Epsolin platform. clicky This makes sense to me. Where I work, we form the headliner for the Malibu. We have started to increase our production because of the Aura coming out.

Being only an hour from Mexico I get to see all types of weird cars not sold on this side of the fence. Saw a Opel that was this car exactly! I was cruising down the highway and it blew by me. Caught up to see what it was. It had the Opel badges on it and was badged as a V6 TURBO. Now if the Aura goes with a RL platform they may use this V6 Turbo engine but don't get your hope up.

Now if the Aura goes with a RL platform (MODEL) they may use this V6 Turbo engine but don't get your hope up.

that would be the 2.8L DOHC Turbo V6. They use it in the Saab 9-3 as well. For a RL model they need to pump up to hp--its 250hp in current form.

Alfa tunes it own version of GMs 3.2L V6: High Feature engine design, though with many modifications, as the JTS V6. The Alfa unit features lean-burn technology as on many other engines from the company. It displaces 3.2 L (3195 cc) and has an output of 191 kW (260 hp) at 6200 rpm and 322 N·m (237 ft·lbf) torque, with gasoline direct injection allowing a high compression ratio of 11.25:1.

GM should use this engine in North America--not in an AUra RL--but I though it was neat

2008 Saturn Astra

2008 Saturn Astra photos

Saturn’s overhaul into an American Opel takes another step with the introduction of the 2008 Saturn Astra. Unlike the Sky roadster (Opel GT) and the Aura sedan (Opel Vectra), which at least changed their names somewhere over the Atlantic, the Astra arrives wearing the same nametag it wears in Europe. This car sells well across the pond, though, so that might not matter. Available either as a three-door or a five-door, the Astra is powered by a 140-hp 1.8-liter Ecotec inline four, with either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.

It's really an Opel. Most Saturns come from the Opel bloodlines.
