ok, i can't believe i just watched that video and then read everyone's comments. that was the 06 evo 9. those have been hitting high 12's consistently. they have the mivec on the intake cam. so i'm not sure of this 40whp gain from a dealer flash, but i almost believe it because i had my ralliart flashed by the dealer and i gained a good bit for an n/a car. but i also have a mivec engine. anyways, i don't see what bulldog has anything to brag about. the cobalt ss usually beats or keeps up with an evo from a roll and this evo just plain out walked the hell out of him. the evo would get about 2-3 cars in front and let out. it wasn't even a 5sec race everytime. that evo was straight up murdering him. if they would have actually kept racing for more than a 5sec spurt, the evo would have been more than a bus length ahead. i don't know what you guys saw in the vid but i'm jsut telling you what i saw.

most comments are a bit strange ... its like everyone missed the part where we actually talked to rob the evo guy for over an hour unless that was only posted on the automotive forums ... anyway bulldog and I went to record the race regardless of us already knowing of what the outcome was going to be (after finding out about the flash) ... the race bulldog had previously was with a older stock evo (from what he could tell) ... the races were short but very fast as nearly each time both drivers would hit the 120's before shutting down. Now I may be wrong about the dealer doin the flash and I may not but I can always talk to rob and ask since he works for the same company I do.

You're still not helping yourself.

I like how everyone skips the whole point of why we put this video together.

Unless my car can get from 40 mph - 120 mph in 5 seconds, almost all those runs lasted longer than 5 seconds.

The point of doing this was not to try and beat him, because after we heard about his flash and the gains he recieved we knew I didn't have a chance. The race was setup so we could try and compare how my car would do against Rob's modded IX Vs. the run I had against a stock VIII on the highway. That's all. The SS actually did better than most thought it would and this is why they are praising it. He put down 270 awhp after his flash and the SS still managed to stay within a car length from 40 mph-115 mph. I was happy.

my bad, let me fix that, this is what i meant.

i'm still really impressed with the cobalt ss/sc and i may still get one when i get back to the states. but as you came to find out, the difference between the evo9 and evo8 is like night and day. it's almost a totally different car with the mivec. the first race he put 4 cars on you and was still pulling strong. the next race when you said "nice" he put 2 cars on you relatively quick and then shut down. the same for the next couple of races. even when you both miss gears, he puts a quick 2 cars on you and then shuts down. never did he stop pulling tho. he pulled relatively hard for a stock evo with jsut a flash. but i have to give you props, cause you def. deserve it. your car sounds wicked sick and it looks bad ass as well. it was a good set of races and i don't doubt at all that you would pull an evo8 even if it had a flash. but the 9 is a total different story. they can be tuned far beyond that of the 8. and i'm sure you see that.

sorry for not explaining myself better.

Thanks fine dude, and thanks.

I just figured I'd go ahead and reiterate the whole reasoning behind this race and the video that was created of it. Just for those souls that had forgot or hadn't know the reason for the video/race.

As far as the Evo IX goes...it's an incredible machine. I couldn't believe the gains it got from a simple flash. It's too bad the ss/scs can't get the same level of performance gains from just some Ecu fidgiting. Oh well, it's pulley upgrades and injectors for us....
