You guys sound like you never heard of car makers sharing parts with other car lines. Been doing it since forever. Just one quick example. Look at the older Firebirds and Camaros. Same chassis, running gear (except engine) and some of the sheet metal but different front and rear facias. GM shared early 350's with several carlines at one time. It's nothing new.

Nothing new of course not. But this is kind of unique way of doing it.
Also.....early 350s werent shared among the different brands........almost every brand (Chevy, Buick, Olds, Pontiac) had a 350 v8, but they were all unique engines. Each brand had its own unique castings, and none of them even shared the same bore/stroke, they were truly each brands own engine.
It wasnt until the late 70s, and even more so the early 80s where GM started using "corporate" engines. It was at this point that all the unique v8s died.......only Chevy v8s remained, the V6s were either Chevy or Buick derived, and the 4 cylinders were Pontiac or Chevy.
