White smoke pouring out of exhaust on start up, lowers a bit but doesn't go away completely after idling and driving.
I did a combustion leak test over the coolant reservoir and it was negative (it starts as blue liquid and it stayed blue), but Im not sure if i did it right (did it too short or coolant was not warm enough)
Im hoping it is just water vapor, but theres a lot of white steam/smoke, and it hasnt subsided for the past few days
Havent owned this car for a while, less than a week, and ive noticed this on the second day
Ive heard the engine on these is pretty reliable, and head gasket issues are not at all common, but i dont know what the issue is
Should i take it to a mechanic?
I am of the opinion that any block which had issues, would have revealed itself in the intervening decade and a half since those blocks were poured.
I also believe that there is a thread here somewhere which nailed down the single date and shift of all the bad blocks - which in turn yielded a very small date range of car build dates as being suspect for having received the bad blocks;
If I recall correctly the cars which received the bad blocks were only some early 2009 model year cars (meaning built in late summer of 2008).
A compression test will probably yield better results than going down the 'porous block' deer-path;
I used to sell tunes, and the company I sold them for gave me a bad tune on one of my updates - I am pretty sure that's why I had similar issue to the OP.

Well looks like i have a car exactly from the problem time period, a 09/08 build date...
~70k miles btw... but the issue can pop up at any time
I didnt do enough research and seem to have messed up big time.....
I will do the compression test though... but based on my understanding this can not differentiate between porous block and head gasket failure? Will any GM dealership be able to definitively tell what's wrong with the car?
