05 ss/sc transmission question
05 ss/sc transmission question
Just picked up my 05 ss/sc. was owned by a state cop before me and every single part of the car is immaculate and from what i can tell it is mechanically PERFECT. the only problem/question i have so far is with the transmission. if i am in first gear and really get on it, it spins its ass off up to redline and when i go to shift into 2nd it wont let me engage. normal driving or getting on it a good amount it shifts fine, but when i really get on it, it doesnt engage at all until the rpms come down. other than that it shifts PERFECT. is this some kind of safety feature to keep me from blowing my tranny or am i looking at a problem that i need to have the dealer look at?
can put it in 2nd, but the clutch will not engage at all until the rpms come down. can put it where 2nd gear should be but when i let off the clutch its like its in nuetral until rpms drop a bit. goes in 3rd fine but when i go all out in first and go into 2nd if will not let me engage. seems like its preventing me from slamming it into gear or over revving it to prevent me from blowing it up. any other time it works fine, just when i floor it in first and try going to 2nd. i have only tried this 2 or 3 times to try and see exactly whats going on. have had it 2 days and havent been beating on it or anything, and like i said.. from what i can tell everything is mechanically perfect. goes in and out of gears fine, tranny sounds fine (no grinds or hard shifts or anything).
noone has any input on this? really wanna know what the deal is. dont wanna have to take it right back to the dealership already if i dont have too

its your driving style. you just have to get used to the car. it took me quite awhile to get used to it. just make sure the clutch is all the way out before giving it gas in 2nd right away. also make sure you have traction at the top of first gear. if not, you get what you are experiencing, clutch slip.
