2.2 Burning oil?
I've got 44,000 miles on my 2006 2.2 auto. Every oil change Mobil1 5w30. This last oil change on Saturday I drained the oil and only about 3.5 quarts drained from the car. Now I let it drain til it was bone dry and I filled it with 5 quarts and Mobil 1 and the dipstick reading is right on. So my question is, what could have cause so much oil to burn? I've never had that much of an all loss between oil changes. BTW I follow the oil life meter for changes, I've rarely gone more than a week or two max after it hits 0 before I change the oil so I'm on time and Mobil 1 everytime.

well a good while back ago before I purchased the actual oil wrench made to fit on the oil housing of our cars I had to use a monkey wrench to remove and tighten it. Well when I went to tighten it, it wasnt tightned enough, it was just enough to lose oil very very slowly over a period of time. Because a a lot of time after that I had a lot less oil then i had put in.
Dunno if thats your issue but thats what happened to me..otherwise im not burning oil.

You're not getting any low oil level warnings? Keep checking your oil level between changes and note if you see any significant drop in the readings. Also, keep tabs upon your coolant and oil consistency. IF you see what looks like a chocolate milkshake in your oil, or you see oil residue in your coolant tank, then report back immediately.

It definately sounds like you're waiting too long between oil changes. Your oil life indicator should never drop to zero. It's always best to change the oil every 3 months or three thousand miles. You can wait a little longer with synthetic. The best advice would be to bite the bullet and go get the car checked out. The oil loss could be a number of things.
