2.4 Automatic Tranny Problem

About 4 days ago it was monsooning here in Tucson and I was on my way from Vail and there was this rock in the middle of the road that I couldnt avoid due to oncoming traffic, so I went over it and it messed up my transmission pan causing oil to leak out. So I replaced the transmission pan, and there was still oil all over the moving parts. So I put the new filter in, replaced the old pan with the new one and screwed it back on.

I cannot find the spot where I add the automatic transmission fluid on my transmission. So anyway, I went out to my car and put it in drive to move up a foot or two to see if it would work, and it wouldn't engage the transmission. Is this because there isn't an adequate amount of transmission fluid? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Just in case someone reads this thread to find out how to fill an auto tranny -- you have to have it up on a lift and running in idle. then you remove the fluid level plug on the tranny near the converter housing and fill it through this hole until the fluid starts to come out. Then you put the plug back in. You have to have the engine running in neutral before removing the plug (unless it is started empty -- in that case you want to put in a quart or two before starting the engine) AND must not turn off the engine until you have the plug back in -- OR you will have hot tranny fluid pouring out on you.

there is NO dipstick tube to fill it with. You can use the plug on the top of the tranny but you will not know how much fluid to put in it without using the fluid level plug.
