After driving for a while the traction control light comes on and the car shifts very rough. Does anyone know what the actual cause is and how to fix it?

The auto's did, I believe.
I've seen so many threads like this. Just never remembered what the problem/fix was.

 

Check your fuses and relays. Traction control is accomplished with tables in the transmission and timing sections of the PCM. You could have a bad relay and it could be connected to the BCM. This for starters, and check for BCM codes.

 

Have you had any success in getting this taken care of since your last post?

i dont know much about cars and dont really know how to check all of that. not much money to take it to a professional either. but i am still having the problem. it comes on almost every day, if i shut the car off for a few minutes it goes off but usually comes back on after a short time.
