ABS light/braking issues

So as of recently, my car shutters when I push the brakes on the highway. I never drove highway in the past year before this. My LS has 25k on it, and is out of warranty. My ABS light came on yesterday. I turned the car off and restarted it. The light did not turn on until 3 miles into my trip. Ever since then, the light has turned on intermittently. I had my brakes checked, and Pep Boys couldn't find anything wrong with them. I asked if the rotors were warped, and they said no. They told me to brake hard while on the highway to make them better.

I've read other posts about a wheel sensor, but I have no idea to diagnose the issue.

Sounds like the ABS sensor is messed up causing it to engage when it shouldnt!

Not very safe either.

Take it to the dealer to get it fixed!

I would rather avoid the costly dealer fees. I know it's not very safe not having ABS, but I'm ok with it temporarily as long as my brakes don't give out.
If I can get a more direct diagnosis, I will take it to a local shop for some intelligent exploring.

take off both wheels, and check the wires for the abs to make sure they are connected and aren't loose at all.

yeah check the connectors to make sure they are still connected. Clean the sensor tips if possible, not sure if you can.

If that does not help you CAN unplug the ABS fuse so it doesnt go off. You will just NOT have ABS!

i looked today real quick, and I saw what I assume are the ABS sensors, they are the only electrical plug on the hub
Do all 4 wheels have the sensor, or just 2 (sorry I'm bad with brakes)

will there be any codes? it's not a CEL, the actual ABS light is on
Pep Boys wanted $92 to scan them, so I have to find an autozone I guess

autozone will check codes for free. the one i go to lets me take it out to my car as long as i leave my license inside. sounds like a bad abs sensor. how are your pads. If they are too warn this can happen.

You need the tech 2 to get the abs fault codes,
There not accessible with a regular code reader.
