Ive been looking all over the site and came with nothing. Can someone please let me know what the deal is with our stereos. I keep hearing things about airbags, and controls not working. On the other hand I hear that its all a scam and that its just as easy as any other car stereo. I just want to know just what is involved with the install and what i'll need to pull it off...

 

I've been wondering the same stuff. I hear that in the 05 and 06 cobalts, that the radio is a main control unit for the car and the computers. A couple of guys at some stereo shops told me that I would have to purchase a certain type of cable to override the computer in the car so that they could install a system.. I told them they were full of **** because I highly doubted that.

So i'm wondering the same things as well.

 

it's only an issue if you have onstar. if you remove the factory deck completely you lose your onstar. other then that it should be a simple install

 

You do not loose your door chimes. It only affects onstar. In the future you probably want to post something like this in the audio section.
