Aftermarket Downpipe Issues
I bought a header and downpipe from a vendor on here. They seemed very reputable at the time, but I am growing more and more concerned with the quality of their work.
My boost has been very high for some time. Ive seen 18psi on 3 inch pulley and 21psi on 2.7 inch, so I have been looking for the culprit. I may have driven 20,000 + miles with this issue... The flex pipe has "imploded" and the exhaust gases have merely an 1 1/4 inch to flow through. Fortunately I will have other vehicles to use in the next week.
This is the second time that this has happened and to say the least I am very dissapointed. This time however my catalytic converter is loose and looks like it has infact melted. Not only that, but the downstream o2 sensor MELTED!!! More pics to come when there is daylight.
Until I contact the vendor, I will not reveal who made this downpipe. I will update this thread as I get the situation resolved.
If the vendor doesn't help resolve this situation, I will gut the cat and cut out the flex pipe and weld in straight 3 inch pipe. I am very diassapointed, since I spent nearly $600 on this setup.

Well CLear Image Auto just said that they dont make the downpipes for the cobalt anymore and the most theyd be willing to do is give me $100 off a future purchase.
Tried to call them back quite a few times, but nobody has picked up.

Still havent gotten ahold of them via phone. For the time being I mig welded straight pipe in place of the cat and the flex pipe. I dont see the need for the flex pipe, since I have an ingalls tourque dampener and there are rubber hangers for the cat back.
It sounds like ass, so I ordered a magnaflow metal core cat from TTR. I should have everything good to go early next week.
