Alarm going off....

A couple times over the past few months I've hit the unlock button and heard 3 chirps, which the owners manual says indicates the alarm system had been previously activated (06 2.4SS). I never really gave it much thought since it's happened so infrequently.

Tonight I was at a friends, locked the car and went inside. 5 minutes later my alarm is going off, and nobody's around the car. I go outside, hit the unlock button figuring that would shut it off......nope. It only shut off when I opened the drivers side door (which is very weird.....unless it had just run its course of 30 seconds by then). Not sure why it went off on its own, but now I'm wondering if the car was sitting there honking and carrying on those other times when it chirped.

Anybody have their alarm go off for no reason?

Mine went off once when I unlocked the door with the key after locking with the remote. Are you using the key or remote?

Remote. What you're describing is normal operation; if the system is armed, you must disarm it by pushing the unlock button on the remote. If you open the door with the key, it thinks someone is breaking in so it activates the alarm.

I have,
Examine your keyring. I had a key chain that was pressing the panic button while the keys were in my pocket.

Buy a key fob and get it programmed for your car. Did you buy it new or used?

my keyless entry broke a while back while the car was armed, i unlocked with key, got in, alarm started going off, i put my key in the ignition and onto ACC... kept going, didnt even recognize the key, so i started it, went off 1 more time, drove home, opened the door, alarm went off, im like wtf how does it not recognize the key even AFTER i started the car... next morning i go out to the car, same ******* thing again. so i disconnected my horn (as its going off... soooo loud) it took me literlly 22x of going from off position to ACC just back and forth on, off, on, off 23x give or take for the car to recognize my key and disable alarm. what a piece of ****

You could possibly have a bad door sensor. Maybe that switch is going bad and is tripping the alarm, thinking the door is opening when the car is locked.
