battery corrosion?

I own a 07 cobalt SS/NA, last night i took the spare tire out to race at the track. Never done it before and i was in a hurry so i didnt notice the battery corrosion. Today i go to put it back in, and theres a ton of white power all over the bottum of the battery and a few inches spread all around.

Also theres like a hose that runs from the battery, like a vent and its broken also, anybody know what thats for?

its Battery acid from the overflow.(The tube thats broken)
Your overcharging and need to take it to the dealer under warranty. If you leave it there will be rust there in no time once it gets through the galvinizing.
Dont clean it up until they see it and then have them neutralize it (baking soda works)

Also dont get that **** on your clothes and use rubber gloves to handle it ,it is corrossive and will eat holes in your clothes and give you dermitites(a rash) on your skin.

WHOA thats alot of corrosion. But, theres ur problem. Its that broken hose. under the hood its harmless but sInce they mounted the batt inside the trunk/inside the vehicle they have to vent the byproducts produced by the electricity flowing thru the inside of the case. It can actualy be a health hazard. Ur battery is fine they should act last 3 maybe 5 yrs, notice how ur posts r not corroded.

Quick update, the battery acid did do some damage in the trunk, so im going to sand it all down, do baking soda and water, let it sit, then clean it all up, primer it and paint.

Called the dealership and they wont do anything, so gotta do it all myself.
