battery trouble
battery trouble
today is the first day it hit 104 here in a while but i left my house and about 15 min of driving on the highway my battery light comes on for five min then goes off then comes on after 5 then goes off again did it twice more and is currently off i checked the interceptor and the battery reads 13. 9 does this sound right...i checked all connections as well...friend said maybe a fuse...any ideas
Your voltage regulator inside the alternator is overheating, the connections on the solder joints are probably either A. corroded or B. partially broken. Either way it's affected by heat. Probably going to go out entirely soon. Try monitoring your voltage to be sure your computer isn't misreading the output voltage. You can get a voltage gauge that plugs in to the power outlet form places like harbor freight, autozone, sears.
well i took it out again today and again after 15 min of driving the light comes on....i was watching the battery voltage on the interceptor it starting at 14.5 and only dropped the 14.1 and 14.2 while cruising..14.0 to 14.1 while sitting...and 13.8 to 13.9 when the fans kicked on the once i was on the move again it climed back up to 14.0 the light turned on immediatly after the fans kicked in....does this still sound like a should start looking for a new alternator?
