BCM Problem

Just wanted to throw this out to .net cause a lot of people know more about this than i do. My car went dead in the water couple days ago and I got a call from the dealership yesterday and they told me my BCM was fried. That warranty would cover it "this time" but if it happens again they won't because they think it's my after market stereo that caused it. I have a Pioneer Avic-N3 in my car, that's it, just swapped out the stock unit and put in the dvd/nav system. So with that in mind, letme hear what other people think on this issue. Thanks everyone

Yup, I've heard that a lot. It bothers me, but it seems to be correct. Our BCM's are for some reason super touchy to aftermarket electronics. I'm betting people are tapping lines in the wrong places causing overloads within the BCM.

Be safe and run a seperate wire from the fuse box or splice into the same wire ahead of the bcm so the current you draw doesnt have to come through the bcm .The Ip /Ign wire that feeds pretty well everything is fused at 20 amp.
Problem would be solved.
You should be able to leave the switching 12 volt hooked up so that the stereo still turns off when the ignition is off.
