Sounds like a tensioner is going bad which would be an easy fix or something is coming loose
Did you take a look to see if anything is loose by trying to wiggle everything the belt rides on.

Also could be a sign of the generator going out.

generator is the new terminology for alternator. actually, it's the proper term and there's no 6v generators on modern cars so I'm sure there's no confusion.
anyway, bad tensioner sounds about right although I would use a belt tension meter to make sure. not sure of the factory specs off hand. a loose and pulsating belt will lose grip on the alternator creating an uneven contact patch on the pulley. this could be why it seems like the power is fluctuating. hope I am helpful.

it hasnt done it anymore just now its being weird in another way... my rpms fluctuate about 200 rpms with the pedal in one spot held steady and when i rev the engine it makes a faint whine like a supercharger only i KNOW there isnt one and it comes from the passenger side. i do know i need output shaft seals now. and my warranty wont cover it... apparently that is normal for it to leak

not that I've ever heard! could also be a half shaft bearing but only if you hear it when moving. if it's happening when you're standing still it can't be an output shaft. weird man, I wish I could get my hands on it to check it out.
