blower motor

Not a question but an observation...

I removed the faulty cabin blower motor and installed a new one this weekend. What an absolute pig of job! Cutting through the case which encloses the motor and drilling out the stupid plastic rivets which hold the bottom cover of the case was hell. To make matters worse, the screws I used to fasten the metal ring (comes with the new motor) to the case were just slightly too long. I didn't realize this until I installed the motor, turned on the car hvac and heard an annoying clacking noise. Out comes the motor, again! I had to remove the screws holding the ring, go over to the next door neighbor's house, and use his grinding wheel to trim the screws. Back in goes the motor. Essentially I had to contort my body such that I'm lying on my back with my legs and ass hanging out the side while I simultaneously held the motor in position, orientated a pocket mirror to see the last screw position, and use a screw driver.

On the plus side, the hvac now works like it should and I saved considerable cash. I got the blower motor from this place:

Chevy Cobalt Heater Blower Motor with Fan Cage - AM Autoparts

in case anyone cares. Be forewarned that this kit doesn't include the screws needed to complete the job.
