blown out foglights
blown out foglights
i went to switch out my foglights with nokya arctic whites stage 2's. (blah blah hid's blah blah.... im a broke ass college kid, so...) i knew they were rated 80w and i wanted to install them, i also ordered wiring harness uprages for hi wattage, but theyre not here yet so i put them in on the stock harness. i expected that with elongated use they would melt the harness. after i put them in, i turned on the car and hit the foglight button... nothing. switched em out and put the stock bulbs back in. still nothing
realized, i blew the fuse... ****, whatever itll cost 1$ to replace, but:
i have the same bulbs but 55w, they should be alright to use right?
question:
the foglight fuse is 15a i believe, idk for 100%?
are the odds of the 55w blowing out the fuse likely too?
can i use a 20a fuse or is that a big no no?

Just to point out the obvious, if your a broke colledge kid, where did you find the money to get better bulbs and new wiring harness? Did the factory fogs not work???
Assuming that the 55W bulbs are 12 volts, that would mean they are 4.5 Amps each (9 for the pair), so no they should not blow a 15 amp fuse.
You could use a 20 Amp fuse, but you could also cook the computer if the amperage remains too high for too long.

I had hyper white fog bulbs in my car with the stock wiring for a year. And I use them all the time. The hyper white headlight bulbs eventually melted the sockets, but the fogs were always fine. And again, I used my fogs any time my headlights were on. Who knows. I never had any issues with them at all. I got them to look like HID's until I got real ones. To make a long story short, I eventually replaced the sockets with high temp ones all around, but just run Silverstar Ultras now. Don't look as cool, but you can see more. lol.
and as far as "pointing out the obvious", 50$ for all the fog/head bulbs & harnesses is a lot more budget friendly than 350+ for projectors heads & 2hid kits
