Boost problem. Stock pulley.
Boost problem. Stock pulley.
OK, so I've read through these 2 threads:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...-fixes-221299/
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...d-help-279610/
The problem I'm having is as described in those threads. Only hitting a max of around 5-6 pounds of boost. This is on both the Torque app and a Manual aftermarket boost gauge.
The actuator on the bottom of the BPV moves freely. I have disconnected the bottom hose and plugged it to see if it was the solenoid or something. Same result. Car runs fine...aside from not hitting full boost. These BPVs are hard to come by. I have Zoomer from ZZP trying to source a new BPV for me because I believe that to be the problem.
Has anyone else had this issue that can confirm that the BPV ended up being the root of the problem even with the actuator bar moving freely?
Has been doing this since I bought it a couple months back, but I assumed it was a faulty boost gauge (has an aftermarket cheapy one) since the car ran absolutely fine with no hesitation or anything. It only has about 40k miles on it.
Thanks all.

A clogged cat will cause an increase in boost.
I'm willing to bet his boost bypass valve is at fault.
On a side note, u say the car runs fine. 5-6 psi would feel gutless at wot.
Does the car pull strong, or does it seem to run out of steam?

It runs out of steam like crazy. Unfortunately, the day I bought the car, it was drizzling, so putting my foot down broke the tires loose and I didn't even think about it.
Definitely not a cat issue...don't have one. Badmab header, zzp catless and a magnaflow muffler.
Is there anything I can look for on/in the bpv to truly verify that it doesn't work? I mean I'd hate to have Zoomer go on a man hunt for one of these things only for it to be something else. Like I mentioned, the actuator moves freelyand the spring compresses, is there a boot or something inside that could have gone bad or what ccauses this seemingly simple piece to not work?
