Broke Tranny!

Well last night I once again went out to moroso with my new axles from dss so I heat my bfg kdw2's up and 3500 clutch drop and came out of the hole with a TON of wheelhop made it down the track and popped my hood and to my utter dismay gear fluid everywhere. The tranny still might be ok I have not had it taken apart yet but my mechanics say either I blew my tranny or I blew my output shaft seal? Anyways just wanted to hear if anyone else has heard of this or if I am yet again the first....

I don't think you need to go rwd but I am going to have a chasis company look at the car and see if they can figure out something to get rid of wheelhop. I have a bunch of wheelhop eliminators and I seem to do it everytime at the track.

I guess no-one cares or everyone is still drunk from last night. haa I needed to laugh I'm besides myself right now.

forgive me for thinking so, but if you're getting THAT much hop, i would think that perhaps something was broken or bent before hand. now, bear in mind that i'm not anywhere near the power that you are, but it just seems like a lot for all the traction bolt ons that you have. perhaps a bad control arm bushing or something?

I love hearing opinions but I'm talking to all my race guys right now and they say that I should try it again with smaller rims but I don't know if that has much to do with. Like you said something was probably broke before hand but either way it sucks.

glock im just asking why were u heating your tires up because i have seen on speed and have read it on the internet that spinning ur tires (to heat them up) kills traction as for a drag slick spinning them helps it

doing burnouts to heat them is, yes. but, if it is cold outside, and they are colder than about 90 degrees, they won't grip worth **** anyway.

Perhaps it's driver error? Just dumping the clutch at 3500? That sounds mildly retarded. You don't need to dump the clutch to spin tires. That is just asking for trouble. And why even do it with street tires?

If you are getting that much wheel hop with traction mods, then your driving sucks.

What kind of 60's you getting?

For your information in drag racing everyone who has run a 12 second time with their balt has been clutch dropping. Update the tranny is fine but the seal is done. Also I never get wheel hop anywhere except at the track. And I know how to drive my car. Thanks

My friend Blew his tranny on his 07 SS/SC at the track, he was only luanching at 2 K slipping the clutch. He perly had 1500K miles on the car, The car wouldnt move like something was stuck inbetween the gears it would jerk hardcore when tried to move, he had to get it towed back home, but got it fixed.

Yes, and everyone who has ran 12s in these cars all have slicks/drag radials. You don't dump on street tires.

BTW, what kinda 60's were you getting with those tires? Also, what pressure you running them at when you get this hop?
