A/C funny noises

So recently the air conditioner in my 07 SS/SC has been making some strange-ass noises. It's making a clicking sound nonstop when the A/C is on and it kinda sounds like the compressor but I'm not really sure. I took it to the dealer and they didn't know what it was. Could anyone give me a little insight on this or should I try another dealership

Could just be your air inlet valve actuator gone bad. It's the motor that switches the door from fresh air to recirculate up in the dash. We have done 7 so far this year. Unless you're sure it's coming from under the hood.....

Could it be just the sound of the electrical clutch going off and on to drive the compressor.
It does go on and off with a clicking sound and will do it quite often at idle.

Actually the compressors are a variable diplacement type compressor and shouldn't cycle like some other compressors do. They do this because on a 4 cylinder motor a cycling clutch compressor system causes some pretty severe power drain and will be felt too much when driving. If the compressor is cycling alot there is either a problem with the refrigerant pressure sensor and/or wiring causing the ecm to think there is not enough, or too much pressure. Also, if there is some sort of engine cooling fan failure the pressure could actually be rising too high and this would cause the ecm to shut the compressor off, then when the pressure comes back down it would re-engage the compressor. All of what I described here would be something that any competent a/c technician at a dealership should know, and should be able to figure out if it was happening.

Mine does it as well, it almost sounds like the fan is hittin on something each time it goes around.

At full fan, you can barely notice it. but on 1..you hear it...then when you turn it to off...it goes away(like the fans slowing down)

mine used have a very audible whine only when the a/c was on. sounded like it was only in the interior but i could never really figure it out. And it would get louder when the rpms go up. Now i get this sound ALL the time when i have the fan switch in any position 1-4.

actually my a/c compressor purged one day after i washed the car. Scared the living **** out of me. it was very ******* loud and "smokey". Never did it again after that though.

Guys this is completely normal for crappy cobalt blower fans. And the discription ur looking for is like a playing card in bicycle spokes, like the kids used to do back in the day. I'm pretty sure every cobalt does this after awhile. Mine does it on speed 1 and 2 , my gf does it, there is a thread on this exact thing

If someone knows where the old thread is at, it has a link to a much better fan, since ours is molded in and has to be cut out.
