a/c not working (not a cobalt, silverado)
a/c not working (not a cobalt, silverado)
i have a chevy 1500 and i was driving. the ac was ice cold and then all the sudden it was blowin hot air. the air compressor line is cold but no cold air. any input? thanks.
yeah it's wont blow cold ever since that happened. so i dont think it is that. i am thing maybe i need a shot of refrigerant. it is a 99'. thanks for helping out. i know it;s a cobalt site but a lot of people here have a lot of knowledge.
yeah i had the bitch running and them lines are cold as ****. im thinking the evaperator now. hmm.. so if that lines are cold, no need for a shot of r-134a.. the air in the car is a little cooler when i turn the ac at max but very little..
some older chevy's ac tends to act up when its only a pound or so low on freon. May just need a good leak test/charge at a shop, will run you 80 bucks, including a pound of freon. (if they arent raping you!!)
If thats not it, then it may be.. ****.. i forget the part name.. the vent 'doors' or something acting up. condensors dont usually go out before compressors so i dunno.
But go get a charge, it cant hurt, and includes diagnostic so you'll know whats going on. Its most likely only a pound low. GM is good about their a/c systems laasting, usually, as opposed to other car makers.

i think you may have a bad mode actuator, they are pretty bad on gm models. you may be able to have it recallibrated at a gm dealer but im sure it will need to be replaced (if it)
it would be the actuator below on the passenger floor panel by the heater core

I should have posted my message here ... I am having the exact same problem with my ss/sc. I'll go take a look at the fuses. Now the problem is I installed my cold air intake. It's probably causing this problem and now I'll have to remove it before going to GM. Any other ideas?
