A/C question

Hey everyone,
I have an 05 Cobalt 2.2 that I recently purchased. They lady I got it from said she thought the A/C didnt work because it needed a recharge.

So I bought a can big enough to charge the system and when I started charging it I could hear a hissing sound. I found that it is coming from the high pressure side rubber hose. It is the line on the passenger side of the engine compartment down by the condenser.

My question is is this the correct part I need to fix the problem?
Buy ACDelco Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose 15-33219 at Advance Auto Parts

Since the system obviously has no freon in it I should be able to replace this line myself. I would then have to get the system evacuated before putting the new freon in correct?

Thanks,
Brad

Ok well nevermind, I found out that is not the correct part and found the correct one on gmpartsdirect.com for a reasonable $41.

I do still need to know if I have to have the system evacuated/air removed before refilling.

Thanks,
Brad

Yes. You need to have the system professionaly filled for it to work at its peak. Since its been open to the atmosphere for awhile you may also consider replacing the condensor. There's a dessicant cartridge in there that absorbs moisture. Its likely to be saturated.

It may be serviced separately but I'm not sure.
