Car died while driving now won't start
Start with specs 2006 2.0sc only mod CAI 40k miles.
Was driving down highway cruise control on doing 70. All off a sudden car started to slow down gave it gas with no power then engine died completely. No Cel nothing... Pulled over tried to start numerous times... Nothing. Had a half tank of gas, no overheating no fluid leaks besides normal condensation dripping from ac compressed. Oil level fine coolant level fine. My initial impression was fuel pump. Had car towed to house put reader on and showed P0201 - Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Malfunction. Any ideas besides the obvious of what the code means. Could a bad fuel pump throw that and cause issue? I checked fuel pump fuse and it is fine. Let car sit for 6 hours an tried to start again... No go. Any thoughts?

First off have someone sit by the pump to listen for it priming the system.
Did you hear the pump yes or no?
Yes- check the injector circut wire for shorting out(see below)
No -under hood fuse box reseat pump relay and check the fuse for the pump
( you can try kicking the gas tank near the pump a few times and then try starting it again, this loosens the brushes)
Looked it up for you
DTC P0201,
Circuit Description
The control module enables the appropriate fuel injector pulse for each cylinder. Ignition voltage is supplied to the fuel injectors. The control module controls each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit via a solid state device called a driver. The control module monitors the status of each driver. If the control module detects an incorrect voltage for the commanded state of the driver, a fuel injector control circuit DTC sets.
looks like a probable short or broken injector wire
follow the wires back and look for any signs of deterioration ,take a good look by the air-con lines and the purge solenoid bracket.
If its not the wires then it goes
replace injector if not that
then PCM

I'd start with the fuel pump.
When they go, they usually just go. No warnings, nothing. Like what was said, have someone sit by the pump to see if they can hear it prime. Or just rent yourself a pressure gauge and check that way.

I had the same code come up for no apparent reason back when I was stock too. One of the wires leading up to the #4 coil pack (in my case it was #4) was exposed and making contact with the block. I'd trace all the wires coming off of #1 and inspect them.
well car is back up and running figured out the issue thanks all for the help. After tracing the wiring harness for the fuel injectors found the outer jacket had been compromised and bare wires were rubbing on the ac lines causing the wires to ground out and blow the injectors fuse. Moved harness so no more rubbing and repaired harness and fuse, good as new.
